Upgrading an TNT2 pro

Featured Replies

card.I have HP AMD1300 with an TNT2 pro 32MB sdram 4X AGP. Will i see a good improvment when if upgrade to another card. I'm looking at an ATI 9600 Pro 128 MB AGP,at CompUSA for $99. Or an GeForce 5600 256 MB DDR AGP at Best Buy for $149.These cards are both 8X.My old card is 4X,will that matter? Or any other suggestions. I don't want to put more than $150 into a card. My pc is 3 years old and will replace within the year. Thanks for any info Bob

Bob,as long as your mainboard support AGP 8x it's ok for you to get AGP 8x based card.Upgrading a graphic card to a newer ones, will see improvements, CPU, RAM, Mainboard and Drivers contributed to a performance increasing, not to mention the hard drives also as well.I would suggest you to go with GeForceFX, I am not talking about value, I am talking about quality and reliable here. Even ATI Radeon faster than GeForce FX, but for reliable assurance, get GeForce FX.

>Bob,>>as long as your mainboard support AGP 8x it's ok for you to>get AGP 8x based card. Not true. All 8X AGP cards are backwards compatible w AGP 4X. If that was the case my 9700PRO wouldnt work in my wifes machine w it's 2X/4X AGP only.>Upgrading a graphic card to a newer ones, will see>improvements, CPU, RAM, Mainboard and Drivers contributed to a>performance increasing, not to mention the hard drives also as>well.>I would suggest you to go with GeForceFX, I am not talking>about value, I am talking about quality and reliable here.>Even ATI Radeon faster than GeForce FX, but for reliable>assurance, get GeForce FX.Actually there really is no reliabilty difference between the two cards. The ATI of today is nowhere's near the ATI of older days. Just look at the current state of menu flickering with the Radeon series of cards. Even the Almighty 5900 suffers the same fate. So much for reliability. :)Hope this helpsBobby

Mike,You said it....I thought it ;)Hooked on phonics worked for him...:)But in all seriousness....I have to keep reminding myself that not everyone here speaks English as there first language.. Hell sometimes I don't think I do.Bobby

Bobby,I naturally forgive him the language/grammar - no problem here - but the rest is just too funny.English is not my 1-st language either.Michael J.
