Greetings everyone!I(like a few other people) built a new system just for FS2004:MOBO: Gigabyte GA-8PE667 w/dual channel ddr MEMORY: 512MB Crucial PC2700 Processor: PIV 2.4B Ghz 533 FSBVideo Card: ATI 9700 AIW Pro 128MB Hard Disks: 60GB and 40GB Western DIgital 7200rpmPSU: 420 wattsCase: Xpider ATX w/side window, five fans w/ lights:)Ok, my question is this. I just got a second stick of 512MB (I made sure it was the same type of RAM)but when I tried installing it, I ran into some problems. First, with the older stick in Bank 0 and the newer stick in Bank 2, my computer just displays processor information...and that's it!. The same thing happens when I move the newer stick to Bank 3 (hoping to use dual channel). Then, after switching the positions of the sticks, I get past the post and into windows. But as sooon as everything starts to load (system tray items, the computer freezes. What could be the problem? (I already ordered a new mobo ASUS P4PE800 after lots and lots of cussin' and swearin':()

Sounds to me that you didn't install it properly. Ram is a bit different that any other expansion card because it is very fickle. If it's slightly off center of a small static spark hits it, it won't work. If your original RAM is in bank 0, shouldn't the new RAM be in bank 1?Another possible reason is the RAM is faulty. Production machines and quality controls aren't perfect and sometimes faulty products get into the market. If your having that much trouble, take it to a repair shop and see if they can fix it. Because of the delecate nature of memory, you should really get a computer technition to install it for you.

The thing is, the Ram works; I tried all three of them and they all worked...one at a time. I can't seem to make two at a time work.

Maybe you need to enter you bios setup and make sure it's recognizing the RAM before you allow xp to boot...? Can't think of a reason why this should be the case, but who knows...

Make sure you use the same brand of memory for each stick. You don't necessarily always have to, but often that is the case. I had the very symptoms you had, and making sure the memory sticks were the same brand fixed it for me.RobbAthlon XP 2800 (2250Mhz) OCd (2240Mhz)ASUS KT400 1Gb of 3200 SDRAMWD Special Edition 80Gb (8meg cache)128Mb Nvidia 4200ti400 Watt Power Supply

I found a solution:I recently got that new motherboard, and sure enough, I started having the same problem. Then I remembered reading that if you change your motherboard, you should reinstall windows...or repair it. I did just that and voila!! Everything is perfect! Thanks everyone, I am grateful for all your help!:)
