ATI 9800 Pro Shimering

Featured Replies

I have noticed that with the new cat 4.3 drivers, I have less shimmering effect on the scenery than before. Has anyone else noticed this? In particular the construction crane located at KABQ. It has lots of straight edges that use to wiggle when ever you would move past it. As far as I know, there never was such a crane in that location. It is a open ramp used by the fire bombers during the summer. Must have been a freebee from Microsoft to make this "As Real As It Gets".Terry

Turn down either aniostrophic filtering ... or within FS2k4 display hardware settings ..mip mapping .. I find 4 best to get rid of shimmering

I have 9700, not so much different from 9800, I keep AF 16x and MipMap4, which gives awesome results.

I concur that the 4.3 drivers are visually better. many people say they don't see a difference from the drivers before, but I do find that odd because I've noticed quite an improvement particularly in the shimmering of ground textures. Especially trees; they no longer shimmer @ all.A little tweaking in the FS9 CFG does the rest to sharpen things up.

I think, this 4.3 set is the best ever released for FS9. IQ is fantastic (haze for example) and performance is more consistent (in my case , flying into clouds the performance hit is inexistent).Regards.

Thanks everyone for their comments.Terry
