October 15, 200421 yr Greetings all. I was curious if anybody had any views on Diskeeper 8 and how they rate it for defragmentation. Am using Windows Xp home version at the moment, which I understand is not the best.appreciate your expert advise.Regards Adam:-beerchug Adam Swift i7 2600k @ 4.4GHz // ASRock Z68 Professional Gen3 // G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB 1600 // Evga GTX970 SC // Corsair 600TCorsair HX750w psu // Corsair H60 cooler // Corsair Crucial 250GB SSD // WD VelociRaptor 450GB // Windows 7 64bit
October 15, 200421 yr Adam,I've been using it for sometime now. It's probably that good that I seem to have forgetten I've got it as I don't have intervene manually and run it.It has a set and forget function that seems to defrag at a given time that you can specify. It can also defrag whilst the screensaver is kicked in if you want. I set it to do this in the evenings. You can set a boot time defragmentation in order to defrag the MFT, Directories and the paging file as well.I believe you can download a demo from their website:www.execsoft.co.ukThey have currently just launched version 9.I hope this helps.

October 15, 200421 yr Emile,A good question as all of the features described as available in version 9 are already available in version 8. I checked the upgrade price but found it to be almost as expensive as it was when I first bought the product. So without any clear indication that there are performance improvements to be gained I think I'll stay with version 8.I will point out, to be fair, that on the occasion when I've required support, the response has been speedy, polite and helpful.

October 21, 200421 yr Hi,I use version 8 Pro too, and very very happy with it, I also enable the ''Boot Time Defrag'' option too, this is helpfull at defraging, and arranging the boot files that are usualy left un-touched, this again speeds up the XP Loading times, and program stability, and yes, there is a version 9 now too, here's an excert of what they said to me when I asked about thew differences / improvements to version 9 Pro over 8 Pro,Steve,Hi Steve, well, the short of it is as follows. The main benefits for a single user would be the improved defragmentation technology, which means it is pretty much undetectable when its in the process of defragmenting in the background (while you
