First ASUS / AMD PC- question:

Featured Replies

I'm just installing the chipset drivers for a new A8N-SLI board, and note an option on the ASUS CD for installing "ASUS AI Booster". I've alraedy figured out that this does not refer to AI traffic in FS9 :). Just what is this, and is this something that I should have?Thanks- and thanks to everyone that offered assistance while I was researching this upgrade. From a previous post I have not installed the IDE drivers from ASUS.Thanks- Bruce.

I personally don't use it.-Cory

Don't install AI Booster, Bruce. It will crash your system. Just install the chipset drivers (though you really should make sure they're the latest... if not head over to Guru3D and get 'em), and ASUS Update (for flashing the BIOS in Windows). I don't even use that. Prefer WinFlash, eventhough ASUS Update works fine.If you're using onboard sound the audio drivers on the CD will work fine.MOST IMPORTANT!!! Just install the SMBus (and audio if needed) drivers from the nVidia chipset drivers. XP will handle anyhting else required and it's drivers are very stable in the NF4 chipset.Greg

Let us know how it goes...did you buy the standard Asus A8N-SLI Motherboard not the Deluxe or Premium? Btw...What power-supply did you finally decide on?

Thanks everyone, much appreciated. I have installed only the onboard NIC and chipset drivers, being careful not to install the IDE drivers, and will not be installing the AI drivers either.I have the standard board, not the Deluxe or Premium- I couldn't see what the advantages were to the others for what I need the system for.Just posted another thread here, and would love any comments if anyone has a moment :)http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=11941&page=Thanks, Bruce.
