Should I wait for a DX10 compatible card?

Featured Replies

You *could*, but the requirements for a new DX10 card are unknown at this time - They may require a SERIOUS power supply - they may be crazy expensive when they come out... Lots of unknowns. If you're not dead-set on getting DX10, then you can certainly purchase and configure a very high end system today! The only question mark would be whether or not you would regret the expensive purchase down the road when the next cutting edge technology is released... especially if the new technology is somehow incompatable with your equipment (doubtful, but not out of the question). Most people who buy ultra-high end equipment understand this, and either don't mind continually spending for the best gear, or know how to get by on their investments. If you're in the mindset to upgrade down the road, plan accordingly. And if you aren't willing to risk too much, best to wait for more info. Good luck!

I get the feeling...Just a hint...From a guy who has been Beta Testing FSX for several months now...A High End Rig may be pretty advisable for FSX...Basically..Take a look at my Sig...And go up from there...He can state no specific's!! I have no information what so ever!! Other than he has made a comment that would lead one to believe his current machine(s) may be struggeling with FSX...You could read my specs below and that is about where he is at...I can't say for sure...I'm doing a little "reading into" his comments...Honestly...Waiting until FSX is released..may be a very good option as far as building!! Lots of people are saying that...Everything right now is just speculation....I'm the type that does Allot of upgrading...Apparently..I don't mind wasting ton's of money..he he...I'm planning a Core 2 xTreme build for FSX...I'm gonna wait until some more motherboards are avaliable...I'm specifically waiting on the nForce 590 chipset motherboards(nForce5)...I'll probably hold out for an Asus 590 equiped board...I'm not gonna wait on DX-10 Videocards though...I'll get one when I feel they have matured a bit and wait until FSX will fully utilize DX-10...I think I'll buy a little time there..."They may require a SERIOUS power supply"I tend to agree...However Please don't skimp on a Power Supply anyhow...Even today's stuff is pretty tough on psu's...I would personally recommend a 600w *Good Quality* Or Better power supply for just about any build of a Higher End System...I doubt I'll buy anything other than a PC Power & Cooling 1kw powersupply from here on out...Especially if your considering SLI, Quad SLI or CrossFire...Just my Opinions!! Have Fun!! Good Luck with your build!!
