July 29, 200322 yr Commercial Member I really don't have much experience with helicopters but is is normal for the R-22 to have a really extreme left roll tendency? I'm finding that I need to keep a constant hard right pressure on the stick in order to keep it level. Anyone else seeing the same thing? Any real R-22 pilots able to comment on wehter this happens in the real one as well. July 31, 200322 yr Hi RyanHow fast are you flying the 22? If your flying too fast you might be experiencing retreating blade stall.This happens when your air speed is so high that as the blade moves from the front to the back of the helicopter it travels with the air. As the air speed flowing over the blade is so low it doesn't produce any lift.Conversely as the blade moves from the back to the front of the helicopter the air flowing over the blade is very fast, there for letting the blade produce lots of lift very easily. This then causes the helicopter to roll.This happens all the time the helicopter is flying in any direction, but you only really experience if at higher air speeds (which kinda narrows it down to forward flight).The faster your air speed the worst it gets and the only way to compensate for it is to put more and more cyclic stick in. Until you hit the stops.The R-22 cruses at about 80 Knots and I think over 90 Knots it gets a bit ropey. If what your experiencing is around 80 Knots then I'm afraid that

July 31, 200322 yr Well I can't comment on how realistic it is until I get FS2004.The trim in the real R-22 actually pulls/pushes the cyclic over to the right, so the pilot doesn't get arm ache from pulling the cyclic over to the right at higher speeds.What speed are you experiencing this at?How much right cyclic are you having to use?Noodle :)
