FSFlightMax and ActiveSky

Featured Replies

Hello to all,Firsly I want to congratulate Damian in his own forum for the release of ActiveSky, a truly remarkable job and well done. It is very rare that I post to the AVSIM forums, we are busy enough with our own. In fact I just had to recreate my account here because it had not been used for 3 months. I am making an exception this time specifically due to the support Damian has been providing for FSFlightMax users both here and in the general discussions forum. I have read many of his posts and he really is going above and beyond the call of duty.We are working very hard to get a new FSFlightMax out the door as soon as possible, specifically for ActiveSky support. ActiveSky already includes support for FSFlightMax, it is just our end that needs finalising. Some of you have had good results tweaking FSFlightMax to get it working with ActiveSky, others still have no returns. Full support for ActiveSky should only be a few days away and it will be fully integrated, sort of similar to existing FSMeteo support (am I allowed to say that here :7).The radar returns we are getting now with ActiveSky are very good, soley due to the way Damian has done things at his end. For those pulling your hair out trying to get FSFlightMax working with ActiveSky, please be assured we are putting in the hours to get this out the door asap. Thanks everyoneJohn

Hi John, nice to see you around here too ... :)As a user of FSFligthMax and ActiveSky I just want to state that both of you, Damian and yourself, are offering outstanding support to their users. Thanks to both of you,Dirk

Hi everyone,I have posted this message at the FSFlightMax forum as well... Thanks go out to John for all his great assistance and support of ActiveSky wxRE and FSFlightMax users. For those who are having troubles getting radar returns, please follow these steps in order:1) Quit FS2002 and ActiveSky wxRE2) Start ActiveSky wxRE3) Make sure your FSFlightMax.ini file contains this (edit for your ActiveSky wxRE folder):[FSMeteo]FSMeteoDirectory=C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREFSMeteoActive=1And make sure you only have one [FSMeteo] section in the file.4) Start FS20025) Change to an airport where it's raining6) Start ActiveSky wxRE7) Confirm your options are set with FSFlightMax export enabled and your export path is set to your ActiveSky wxRE folder.8) REFRESH via ActiveSky wxRE9) Give FSFlightMax a minute to recognize the new data.10) Confirm your radar is ON and that your tilt is set correctly11) You should be getting echo's! Regardless if you are online or offline.Sorry for the long step process here, but it is the only way to confirm that all settings are correct. The problems found so far had to do with something wrong with either the FSFlightMax.ini settings, the ActiveSky export folder settings, not refreshing after changing airports and improper radar settings in FSFlightMax. If you are still having any trouble with this please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I would be happy to assist you.John has been great and is working hard on an update that will make these required settings much less confusing. Thank you all for your patience and thank you for your support of ActiveSky wxRE and FSFlightMax!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Software

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Hello Gentlemen,I have a question regarding to FSFlightMax and ActiveSky. Is FlightMax compatible with ActiveSky IF ActiveSky is set to download online weather???Thanks

Hi DamianFirst of all I would just like to say what a fantastic program ActiveSky is. I just discovered by accident that I get radar returns without changing my settings in fsflightmax. i.e the program is configured for fsmeteo. Here are the lines from my ini file.[FSMeteo]FSMeteoDirectory=C:Program FilesfsmeteoFSMeteoActive=1This is the line from my ActiveSky ini fileExportPath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREI tried all the other ways different people have been suggesting and some of them worked intermittently. But this works flawlessly in online mode.Regards Robert :-)P3 1.0ghzgf4 ti4200512mb rdramsb livexp home

Robert, I am glad you got things working and I am not trying to argue, but if you are using the above lines you have done nothing to tie the 2 progs together. Check your wxRE.ini entry. Does it really read: ExportPath=C:Program FilesActiveSky wxRE or does it say ExportPath=C:Program Filesfsmetro?

The line I posted from the wxRE ini file was cut and pasted in to the message. Believe me I am baffled how it works as well. As I said in my original post, I just came across it by accident as I had changed my settings so many times. Here is my complete ini file:WXREOfflinePath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREExportPath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREOperationMode = OnlineDefaultOfflineFile = cycle09Z.wxdDisableMessages = TrueExportMetars = TrueMETARUpdateInterval = 25FDUpdateInterval = 25UpdateMETAROnNewStation = TrueUpdateFDOnNewStation = FalseWindsAloftSimulation = TrueIdlePriority = FalseVATSIMMetars = FalseDefaultForceRange = 60ZuluConversion = 0RainVisReduction = TrueOvercastHorizonVis = TrueTAFProcessing = TrueWakeTurb = TrueCloudTransitionInterval = 30MinimumCloudThickness = 400UseSystemTime = TrueRegardsRobertP3 1.0ghzgf4 ti4200512mb rdramsb livexp home

A new day and a new problem. Just tried again and I am not getting any radar returns at all. Oh well, it was good while it lasted. Just have to wait for Fsflightmax 1.4RobertP3 1.0ghzgf4 ti4200512mb rdramsb livexp home

Now try to adjust your Export line in wxRE and see what happens.

I've given up on it at the moment until fsflightmax 1.4 is released, too much time wasted when I can be flying instead. Thks anywayRobert :-zhelpP3 1.0ghzgf4 ti4200512mb rdramsb livexp home

John,Very good news. I bought FSFlightMax after seeing a lot of mails in the xwRE beta forum about your program. The combination of wxRE and FSFlightMax is certainly wonderful. Sometimes I have FSFlightMax working properly, sometimes not. Unfortunately, all my flights using FSFlightMax sooner or later ended in my PC being locked. I am looking forward to version 1.4 of your program. Having everything working together properly will be great. Thanks again.Best regards,Henrihttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
