December 18, 200223 yr Have been using SkyWorld SE with ActiveSky, but would like to try reverting to MS default clouds just to see how they work, test frame rate impact, etc. Any idea how to do that? I've tried checking the SkyWorld documentation but haven't found anything about uninstalling or swapping. Entirely possible that I missed something, and I'll check again. But if you have a ready answer, please advise. Thanks!
December 18, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi Alan,Best bet is to use the FS2002 CD (disc 1) and extract the .bmp files in the FS2002.CAB file to your FS2002 texture folder, overwritting all .bmp's. Hope that helps!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 18, 200223 yr Hi,I made two subfolders : Default Cumulus Set 1 and Default Thunderstorm Set 1 with the default MSFS2002 clouds.and added those two subfolders in FS2002TEXTUREfs sky world 2002.After that : Edit clouds.ini and ad :(Set55)DirName="Default Cumulus Set "from=1to=1Random=onOrder=54(Set56)DirName="Default Thunderstorm Set "from=1to=1Random=onOrder=55Now I can choose witch clouds I want to use in Fs Skyworld SE:The default clouds are any other set in Fs Skyworld SE. December 18, 200223 yr Thanks -- will give that a try. Are the defaults just the cld*.bmp's numbered 1-10, or are there others? Ideally, I'd like to extract to a temp folder and just replace the clouds, since my texture folder has many other FSW textures running around in it that I'd like to keep. I actually like the SkyWorld clouds but am running into some video memory issues when running the Dreamfleet Cardinal RG and FS Flightmax (all pretty demanding critters) and want to see if I can lighten the load via the default clouds. On the other hand, maybe a better choice of cloud sets would do the trick. I saw a couple of posts from you the other day on the need to pick the right sets. Any sense of which work better, or does that come down to individual system issues?By the way -- ActiveSky is superb. I'm an immediate convert.
December 18, 200223 yr Thanks -- I'll give that a try. By the way, I think you answered the question I put to Damian about the file names for the default clouds -- it can't just be the cld*.bmps because if I'm guessing right, those wouldn't include the thunderstorm sets. But now I've got a path to go in. Something to work on tonight...
December 18, 200223 yr Hi,cumulus : cld.bmp (1-10)here I use the default white thunderstorm : cldcn.bmp (1-10)Highly recommended:Default White Cloud Set by Gerrit KranenbargAvailable from AVSIM.COM file libraries(works best with cloud density slider at 100%)Download Link:http://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Ca...d.zip&Go=Searchin my Skyworld SE folder I have all the sets form SW SE - moon sets - sun sets, etc....I just added Default Cumulus Set 1 and Default Thunderstorm Set 1so I can pick any set that I like most.Due to betatesting ASwxRE i did not test all the sets.happy flying Regards, patrickHiFi Technologies Apha TesterFDC/PFE 3 Beta TesterAivlaSoft EFB Alpha Tester
December 18, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi Alan I was referring to all .bmps not just cld*.*. This is the easiest way to overwrite every texture back to default.
