Hi Everyone!Things have been very busy around here, getting the new v1.1 update ready. I have also had some computer problems and some unexpected long hours at work that have delayed things a little bit but we are back on track now. Most issues reported have been resolved in v1.1, which is pending beta test and release later this week. I have also almost complete the international winds aloft but this MAY or MAY NOT make it for v1.1 - Regardless, v1.2 is scheduled right behind v1.1 (by about 2 weeks) and will include full winds aloft (if not done by v1.1) and some new features that will be announced shortly. Thanks all!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

If I am reading correctly, will winds aloft be the actual forcasted winds aloft for the whole world including over the atlantic and pacific oceans?

Hi, All WMO winds reporting stations are available, most are reliable and up-to-date and many of these stations exist in the pacific and atlantic oceanic areas. I haven't drawn up a coverage map but I am fairly certain the entire world is covered (including pacific and atlantic) in all areas via decent proximity to a valid station (although in some cases it may be a couple hundred nm away). You can get WMO station information by searching the NOAA site or the internet. I will try to post a station list in the next few days as well. Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Damian,Very nice! Will be nice having real winds aloft (or as close a possible given the contraints) when flying to Europe.

Damian, Hats off for all the hard work you've done. This is a great product and I highly recommend it. I can't wait for the updates. I hope you don't mind, but I like ActiveSky WXre so much that I mentioned it on my website below. Hi DamianAny further news on the release of the update? Are international winds looking good to be included at the mo?

the airliners goin across the ocean, to hawaii lets say, make position reports that include all the important stuff that we would like to have on our flights in the sim over certain way points.. many of you probly already know this. if there was a way to get this info and do exactly wut ActiveSky 2002 put it in the sim tellin it when and where the jet streams are, thunderstorms, ect... or if there was just a way that the program could take a weather chart and put it onto the flight sim world.. if that makes sense?

I don't think that stuff is made available anywhere. If I'm correct it's reported only to their own headquarters and maybe the current oceanic center for private planning use and to warn other pilots of possible trouble ahead.

finding somwhere where the position reports go to, to get it into the sim... the hard part is finding some place where we can get the proper winds aloft across the ocean... what about a satellite image from the ocean showing clouds and wind; direction and speed... like a forcasted moving map lets say, with jet streams.... im just throwing out some ideas right now
