A qouple of questions!

Featured Replies

Hi DamianLet me first thank you for this superb update! IThis program is getting better and better! :-)Some questions have been raised though. First, when the voice METAR reads pressure she says "altimeter" and the pressure in inches Hg even if the pressure is reported as "qnh". I saw there was a file called qnh.vaw in the voice folders so I assumed, maybe hastily, that when reporting qnh the voice METAR also says "qnh". Is it supposed to say "qnh"?Second, in the winds aloft window you see the WMO-ID but you wont see a ICAO ID. Is this by design? I looked in the wmo.txt and found a lot of entries depicted by 9999. Can I add relevant codes there and see it in the winds aloft window?I think I had another question for ya. But I seem to have forgotten it... Well I'll get back to you if it pops up!Once again, thanks Damian!

Matt,Not sure about #1 so I'll wait for Damian to come along. For #2 you can change the code from 9999 but the window is still going to display the WMO-ID. The programer(Damian) can explain this more than I can, but I wanted to respond in a timely manner.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

>I think I had another question for ya. But I seem to have forgotten>it... Well I'll get back to you if it pops up!I knew I was forgetting something...The winds aloft still downloads all reporting US WMO stations on the weather briefing page. Even if I enter any other dep/arr airports. In my case EKCH/ESSA. Shouldn't it find the stations closest to my route?TGIF

Hi,I will look at QNH.. it was working the last time I tested it!ICAO ID... not all winds stations have these... actually very few ICAO ID's especially in non-US/Europe areas.I will work on easier identification of these stations perhaps by displaying the full station name in the status bar..Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Hi again...>I will look at QNH.. it was working the last time I tested it!Ok, tell me if you want any information from me to track it down!>ICAO ID... not all winds stations have these... actually very few >ICAO ID's especially in non-US/Europe areas.I checked the names of the stations in Sweden in the wmo.txt and they all have corresponding ICAO codes. I've changed that in my wmo.txtTell me if you want it! Maybe more of us with some local knowledge can send our contributions?...>I will work on easier identification of these stations perhaps by >displaying the full station name in the status bar. That would really be great if you could implement it.Did you check my third question? About the winds aloft on the weather briefing page? Thanks for your swift reply and :-beerchug TGIF

Hi Damian !First of all: latest wxRE is quite fantastic with the added voice capability. Thanks !Some minor bugs I've noticed:- I don't get the QNH in hPA/mb as reported by other users (very minor bug)- I get "variable" METAR when approaching a new station (note that I'm flying offline): I was cruising at FL370 from EDDF to OLBA and I got from Rhodos this METAR: 04012KT 9999 FEW030 09/M03 Q1025 at about 50 nm out from the west, then, when at about 10 nm out, the METAR suddenly changed in 36005KT CAVOK 16/01 Q1028. The same happened with other stations along the route. I checked when I landed my .MET and .TAF files and the correct METAR for Rhodos was the second one. I found that wxRE was reporting as Rhodos another airport that at the moment was closer to the airplane (I double checked the ICAO IDs, so I'm sure it was so.Not a great bug,but if it could be fixed..)- wxRE seems unable to recognize Athens new airport (LGAV) that doesn't exist in default FS2002 scenery but can be added with a very good freeware addon. So when flying in that area, wxRE picks up LGEL (Elefsis Airbase) about 20 nm from LGAV- I get "strange" ATIS messages from FS2002 when still about 60 to 80 nm out of destination airport. Example: at about 70 nm out of OLBA wxRE was reporting 22008KT 9999 FEW026...the FS2002 ATIS gave 24038KT 20SM SCT030 SCT120...that was the actual weather I was flying into at the moment. My range for reporting is set a 80 NM.Note that incorrect ATIS frequently gives incorrect ATC runways use. Thanks for some hints and thanks for you EXCELLENT work.Enrico.Enrico.
