AS2004 and FS9 overcast issue

Featured Replies

Will AS2004 fix the dreaded overcast bug that plagues this version of Flight Simulator? Will we get true overcast layers (down to published IFR minimums)? This will be a deciding factor for purchasing this product.Thank you,Jason

Hi Jason,Yes and No. We don't really SOLVE any FS bugs, we work around them as much as possible and enhance things within our technical capabilities. We have overcast enhancement that doubles-up any overcast layers you have reported and makes then twice as dense as you've been seeing. Try it for yourself, double up an overcast layer you're already getting with real FS wx (advanced wx dialoges). In my experience I can get the full IFR minimum effect easily, although there is still the occasional hole when looking from HIGH above.. not really when transiting the layer though. This also depends on your graphics settings and if you have lots of textures being drawn elsewhere, remember that less are going to be available for clouds. 100% cloud coverage & 3D%, a decent system, and lower-than-full scenery/display options in other departments will help tremendously.-Damian (CMEL/Inst)Standard disclaimer:We've solved many FS9 issues, vastly improved many more, but some were unavoidable, so we're not going to advertise this as fixing ALL of FS9's less-than-desireable issues... That is impossible. But this add-on was specifically designed to make the most of FS2004 and get around these problems as much as possible.
