December 31, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hello everyone,We are currently ahead-of-schedule for a Jan 15th release of the first maintenance release for AS2004 (MR1).We have identified the following issues which will be addressed:- Problem with route-based wind smoothing where loading a flight plan would occasionally lead to weather condition inconsistency. It is recommended to TURN OFF route-based wind smoothing until MR1 is available.- Occasional sharp wind transitions. In certain areas writing wind information to the global area can cause strange wind issues and 180 degree direction changes. This has been isolated to a combination problem with global handling and FSUIPC NWI weather writes. We are working with Pete Dowson directly to improve this situtation. We have previously suggested users having this problem turn OFF global writes. When doing this, cloud consistency issues can occur, so we are now suggesting that all users TURN ON Global Writes for the best experience. When fixed, GLOBAL writes can be ON supplying consistent cloud depiction AND smoother wind transitions.- Occasional radar hole where the 75nm radius around the aircraft becomes black/blank. Depends on the area of flight and available reporting stations. For now, it is recommended to import a flight plan in ActiveRadar to limit the chance of this error occuring.- Extended Destination Wind Force option causes occasional wind 180-deg shifts even though all winds are forced consisistent without rapid changes. This is related to the FSUIPC NWI issue we are working on. We recommend DISABLING this option for now.- Cloud layers popping in and out unexpectedly - This is possibly related to AS2004 Visibility Smoothing. If you experience these cloud pops, please turn off visibility smoothing and let us know if the situation improves ([email protected]), and which airport IDs you experienced this at (as we believe it is related to certain areas).- Pressing the Close (X) window control button on the NAVLOG screen causes AS2004 to forget the flightplan. We recommend using the CLOSE button instead of the X button for now.Other improvements we are working on for MR1:- Add QNH and Metres vis readouts in ActiveRadar Tracking Screen (alongside inches/SM vis).- Change ActiveRadar hotkey (CTRL-F12 can conflict with Active Camera).- Option to generate cloud layers on AUTO reports.- Vertical visibility smoothing feature (similar to Graduated Visibility, but works together with the AS2004 engine to provide horizontal AND vertical vis smoothing that also integrates into existing cloud layers for a better visual transition). Thanks go out to all users who helped identify and track certain issues, and made great suggestions on improved functionality. We appreciate all the great input! And thanks for your patience while we finish preparing MR1 :) Beta testing is slated to begin in a few days...Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 31, 200322 yr Hi, Damian.Congrats on your new release. Just one question. Can the software be run from a 2nd PC using WideServer/Client software?Ron McLeod CYEG
January 1, 200422 yr Hi DamianRegarding this update:- Add QNH and Metres vis readouts in ActiveRadar Tracking Screen (alongside inches/SM vis)is possible to have this via Flightwatch system (122.00) too? Many thanks!Regards and happy new year!Max Massimo Solimbergo | MY PC = MoBo: MSI X670E GAMING WIFI CPU: AMD Ryzen 7800X3D RAM: Kingstone 32GB 5600Mhz GPU: NVIDIA RTX4070TI SSD: Samsung 990PRO 2TB + 970EVO 1TB + 860PRO 512GB + 840PRO 512GB OS: Win11 Pro 64 Monitor: Samsung SJ55W PERIF: Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog + TPR SIM: MSFS2020 Planes: Fenix | PMDG | FSS ERJ | BAe146 Utilities: Navigraph VA: UKvirtual (www.ukvirtual.co.uk) Online Flying Network: VATSIM
January 1, 200422 yr Damian - I have not played around with the Proxy server settings currently in AS2004, but do they imply that we can use a server other than the hifi one? If not, can it be coded in so that AS2004 is not totaly dependent on the hifi system? (ie an option to use the Jeppesen server or something like wxRE had)
January 2, 200422 yr The proxy server option is for your end to access the Internet. You can access the VATSIM servers as an option. wxRE can never use the Jepp. server, only NOAA or VATSIM. Gotta ask: why wouldn't a user want the HiFi server or the VATSIM server?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
