January 13, 200422 yr I have just completed a flight from NZAA to NZCH and have landed with interesting weather. About 40nm miles out I had NZCH winds in Weather tracker of 060/9. This was the same as shown in the NZCH metar which was NZCH 130600Z 06009KT 20KM BKN019 BKN035 16/11 Q1016 NOSIGHowever, I then had the winds in WT change to 170/14 and the gauge in the A340 was showing this when I landed. (Tail wind landing on rnwy 20 :)).When checking AS2004 it is still showing the metar as listed above.I have saved the weather file for you if you need it.P.S. I just disconnect AS2004 and downloaded real world weather and get 037/09I'm also using the alpha release.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)
January 13, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi Russell, thanks for the report..Was this an isolated incident or has it happened more than once? It could be a nearby station with different winds reported, or could be an interpolation issue. If you can reproduce let me know, I will investigate further.. thanks!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 13, 200422 yr Author Sorry, I should have mentioned that when I did the first flight with the new release I had a similar issue. This flight was from NZCH-NZWN. I can't remember the exact details but I ended up with a tail wind approach. As it was the first flight I didn't worry about it, but this flight from NZAA-NZCH was my second and I had the same issue. After I logged the issue last night I did a flight from NZCH to NZAA and had no problems. This time I did not use the Weather Tracker and loaded the flight plan into AS2004.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)
January 13, 200422 yr Commercial Member Russell,Is it possible that the upper winds were simply different than surface winds? This can happen, but I'm not sure that explains your experience. If it happens again, please give me a cut-paste of the active METAR and ALOFT data... Thanks!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
