The most annoying crash ever!!!

Featured Replies

I think this is a winner. In my last two flights the same thing happenned. While entering the final approach leg the sound starts fading away, FS closes, and there I am facing the desktop screen. All this within 2-3 secs. NO error messages, NO "FS2004 encountered a problem...blah blah". Everything looks just fine. The first flight was LSZH to EDDM with Dash-8 by Fanda, and the second CYHZ to EGCC (imagine how annoying that was!) with POSKY's A330v2.Facts:-Both arrival airports have AFCAD2 files.-I'm using Active Sky 2004 with MR1 with downloaded real weather and flying offline.System:-P4 at 3Ghz-ATI Radeon 9600 Pro with 3.10 drivers-Soundblaster Live (with updated drivers)-512 MB RAMI've never encountered this problem before and everything was working fine. My main suspect is AS2004 as I think that ever since I installed MR1 these were the first flights. It's also interesting how the crash happens, i.e. no error messages, no system crash.Any ideas? Thanks in advanceKostis

Have you tried the same flights without AS2k4 running?

I'll answer this the same way I answered in the PAI forums. The problem is due to the route based weather. Perform the flight without entering a flightplan into Activesky2004.You can still enter a plan into active radar.Read and digest the recommended settings given by Damian. They are in this thread "AS2004 Update 1 Alpha Version Released" which is a sticky at the top of the forum.

I have a simular problem. I am also using AS2004, but last night I did a lot of test flights. I found out that FS9 only would crash if I had been opening the default GPS during the flight. Both my airports also have AFcad2 bgl's - but during my tests I also tried to remove them without any luck. I did the same flight 7 or 8 times. Everytime FS9 crashed to desktop on final.Just curious - did you open the default GPS during those flights?BrSteen

Hey Steen,I'm using GPS regularly but I haven't experience any crashes. For the time being I followed Chris' advice on disabling route weather and using Active Radar only. That solved my problem. Hopefully, with the official update it will be solved properly.Best RegardsKostis

Hi Steen,if opening the GPS causes a rash, that usually points to a terrain problem - do you have any add-on sceneries installed for the area you're flying in, particularly mesh or landclass?Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
