February 20, 200422 yr Having observed the various threads and in particular the 'Bugs' thread I got to thinking that perhaps a controled test should be arranged whereby everybody flies a standard flight at the same time with the same settings in both AS2004 and FSUIPC and a standard PIREP is filed at various points in the flight. The PIREP could include met observations etc. and then push them all in Damian's/Jim's direction for evaluation. The reports could include system basics and other variables. Doing this might uncover some of the problems.Just a thought.Andy b Andy Brockbank
February 20, 200422 yr Hi,It may be difficult to have a lot of testers able to fly exactly at the same time for obvious reasons. So a pre-loaded wx snapshot should be made available as well as one defined flight plan with altitude for all willing testers. To make the test more valuable for Damian/Jim it may be advisable to create three or four groups with one set of settings for both AS2004 and FSUIPC assigned to each group. This will give Damian a better picture of aircraft and scenery behaviors.Just my two centsMichael
February 20, 200422 yr How about this:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/63928.gifShould be a decent flight for all? Thanks to www.intellicast.com for the weather graphics! ;)Right-Click this, save as:http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/TestWX.zipUnzip into your FS9/modules/ActiveSky2004 folder. Load TestWX.dat into AS2004. Everyone use FS9's flight planner to fly from KORD to KATL at either FL310, FL350 or FL390 (Apologies to those who usually fly outside the US - I had the gif, gotta start somewhere ;)). Save the flight and import it into AS2004 - Set online updates to OFF and TAF processing to OFF to be sure we all see the same thing. Screen shot of your AS2004 options page a plus with reports. PMDG 737 users, please use the PLN2RTE utility to convert the same flight to FMC format and load it. How's that sound? I know what I'm doing this weekend...***REPORT***NAME:SYSTEM SPECS:AS2004 Version: (Maybe everyone should have MR1b2?)FSUIPC Version (REG?):PLANE FLOWN:ROUTE:FLIGHT LEVEL:FLIGHT TIME:Notes: (for wind changes, visibility changes, cloud changes)Best,sgAs an aside, flying to cape cod or nantucket in this weather is a real treat! February 20, 200422 yr Could just one person confirm that they can download the zip file I've linked to above? Did not notice any cloud pops along the way. No violent wind shifts. At flight level 310 winds were 81 to 84 knots from 210 to 220 degrees (Active Radar). Descending into Atlanta area winds shifted smoothly around to about 150 degrees and decreased smoothly to about 53 knots at flight level 190.Only bad thing was even though the Atlanta metar showed clear skies with 9 miles visibility, I was enveloped in a low visibility dingy brown haze on final into Atlanta. It popped up suddenly.

February 22, 200422 yr Author Made two attempts to fly the default 737 and on both occasions suffered severe airspeed loss during climbout and eventual loss of terrain clearance. I was using Gridley's AS2004 settings. The darn thing is unflyable under the weather conditions in the Test.WX so that is it for me.I'm prepared to let the program continue - warts and all - and if a fix is delivered - good - if not I'll continue to lamblast Microsoft for delivering incomplete software. The next time I get an idea I'm gonna log off immediately.Andy b Andy Brockbank
