Just experienced continous update bug

Featured Replies

Flying from lira to liml, viaost,elb,gen,vogApproaching GEN (limj metar station) when it entered LIPQ zone, it started.Downloading data, writing data, update complete, and again.It is still continuing, even if the metar zone has changed.I don't know what would you need to track this down...Here is what i can provide.

//AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 5160WindowPosY = 5205DefaultWeatherFolder = D:fs2004ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 2000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 10LocalSuppressionRange = 35MinimumVisibility = MaximumVisibility = IncreasedWake = TrueDisableWindsAloft = FalseForceDestinationWeatherZone = TruePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = FalseLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = FalseAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueCCWindsFix = FalseDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 5VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 1TAFProcessing = TrueEnforceVisibilityLimits = FalseWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE
The metar time is 1550ZRight now i'm 35nm from destination, and the process is still in place.

Flight Plan loade into AS?JimActiveSky Support

NegativeOnly starting and ending airports.

Not trying to be difficult here, but how did AS know what your starting and ending airports were? Or am I missing something here? A few more details may help us get to the bottom of this!Edit: Sorry, things like:altitude:distance from destination:Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

OK, did you process those airports with the process button?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

>OK, did you process those airports with the process button?Yes.I obtained the route weather report, which advised me that no intermidiate point was processed as no route was filed.

Thanks for that. Doing that did create a route internally in AS. That is why you got the update cycle.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

>Thanks for that. Doing that did create a route internally in>AS. That is why you got the update cycle.So at this point it is better not to use the weather briefing?You have pinpointed that what exactly causes the update cycle, is when you have a route filed?

Hi,Actually I think you've isolated it to occuring when you have a flight plan processed but have NO intermediate waypoints (didn't import plan with waypoints, or your imported plan didn't have any).This helps a bunch. Thanks for that! I am working on this now..-Damian

Ack.. I was almost positive I knew what the problem was... but alas, not able to reproduce even with your exact settings. My original guess here was wrong. Everything appears to be working correctly regardless of waypoints existing or not.This is with B86...We'll keep this issue open for now and I will continue trying to get it to happen. If it happens again to you or anyone else, please send me your dep/dest/waypoints/altitude and your current_wx_snapshot.txt (in the AS2004 folder). Thanks!-Damian

They started toward the end of the flight. My flights usually have from 15-25 waypoints in themI have not flown with B86 and will not be able to until tomorrow evening. I'll let you know how it goes.-michael

I'm glad it wasn't some of us going crazy!JimActiveSky Support

Jim,Nah, it was just me going crazy trying to isolate this thing with so many different configurations. Fortunately it happened to me repeatedly and I was finally able to properly debug it. So many areas of flight, options, ways that AS and FS is used, it can get too complex, and it becomes easy for me as coder to miss problems that are staring me right in the face.Anyhow, thanks Jim and all for your continued effort nailing this down... and not giving up! Thanks for your help and your patience...-Damian
