July 13, 200421 yr Good day,Just want to clarify if I'm seeing the standard AS2004 behaviour with clouds. When flying from one weather station coverage area to another and the weather changes when the new station reports the Cumulus clouds I am seeing the cloud build-up, like it is being painted on the sky.It gives the impression of cloud textures being added at a very high rate - dunno if my desription is clear enough. Is it normal with the smooth transition function? Thanks for clarification.Dom
July 13, 200421 yr Hi,Are the clouds building slowly in the distance or or they popping up right in front of your plane?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
July 14, 200421 yr I think this is quite normal if you have visibility that is more than cloud draw range. I see this all the time and if there is say an overcast++ this will eat like 5-10fps during the drawing and then go back to normal(FSW clouds).Worst case cenario is when I fly Concorde and crusing at Mach2, cloud drawing is having trouble keeping up with my speed :) Had to uncheck the overcast enhancment in AS to help reduce it.PC Spec:P4 3.2GhzR9700Pro1GB RAMAAx4 AFx16, doesnt matter if I run 800x600 or 1600x1200 even though at 1600x1200 I do get lower framerates. Generally stick with 1280x960 or less to get 100Hz on my monitor. Can't stand watching anything less now after getting used to it :)JT
July 14, 200421 yr Author That's the point I guess.I will try to limit the visibility in the sim with FSUIPC instead of leaving it unchecked as advised in the readme.ThanksDom
July 14, 200421 yr Also lower your sight distance in FS. I don't know what you have it set at right now.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
