WinXP SP2 and AS2004

Featured Replies

In anticipation of installing the upcoming WinXP SP2 bundle when it's formally released, does anyone know if it breaks anything for us AS2004 users? Knowing that it's gonna lock down a lot of internet firewalls, I wonder what it'll do to us. Perhaps anyone out there with a SP2-RC loaded and successfully still using AS2004 could shed some light on the subject? Did you have to do anything (like open any particular ports) after installing a SP2-RC? Thanks...Al

Hi ALYou have not to worry, nothing gets broken with the SP2 , running the latest build of the SP now with AS2004 and all my other application.Nothing was changed, broken or upset by the SP2.The firewall works just great, it is alot more user friendly now.If an applicatin need internet access then the firewall will warn you, asking if you wanna allow it and to remember the choice you made, pritty much like ZoneAlarm does.So dont worry, SP2 has a few new features regarding security build in, but it has been made very easy to use.Hope this helps.RegardsJannier
