i've just purchased AS2004 and when i run the install.exe the wizard comes back with: error1606:could not access network loacation f:/flight simulator 9. any ideas? i keep fs9 on a separate hard drive (f:)along with my other flight sim programs,,nothing else on that drive,,,fs runs fine and i havn't run into this problem installing other add-ons before,,anyway around it ? Gerald

Hi,Strange one. As a user you have full access to the drive right? You are pointing AS to the FS folder? Should that backslash be a forward slash ?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Jim, this is happening during the preparing to install phase,,during the first initialization bars,,the error code window pops up at the same time the preparing to install please wait window appears,,,never get a chance to point it to fs9,,,,and yea suspect that should be a forward slash but doesn't give me a way to change it,,,,anti-v and firewall are off,no other programs running,,,and i am the admimistrator. tried moving the install.exe to the flightsim folder on f: drive,,,still didn't matter...never seen this problem before,,, Gerald

forgot,,,i've also redownloaded the file just in case there was some file corruption during the download and it does it with either copy.system is: Amd AthlonXP 3200+ 1GB 400 Mhz DDR ram NVidia Geforce 5600 w/256mb C:= 40GB Western Digital F:= 120GB Western Digital Mitsubishi nx86lcd 18" mon. Windows XP Home,,,SP1

Hi,Did some searches about the error and found that it mainly pops up when the My Documents folder or other files cannot be found where expected. Others have FS and AS installed on a secondary drive. I am out of ideas!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

My Documents folder and others are all in normal places, will continue to fiddle with things for now,,,have read "support" posts on Israel metar probs and will wait for Damian to get back in the loop or let you know if i solve the problem,,,your prompt and gracious response on this puts you high up in my book. Many Thanks, Gerald

I see Damian is back in the loop so I will update you on what I've done so far....went thru registry with both norton systemworks and registry mechanic...googled the error and waded thru 50 pages of links looking for any clues, tried a few things,,,nothing worked,,,,,I would sure like to use the program,,,if i reinstall fs9(to drive f:,where it resides now) will i lose any of my add-on stuff (aircraft, scenery, terrain, etc.)?if we can't solve the problem,,can i get a refund ? Gerald

Hi,You have done much to fix this. Please drop Damian a note and explain all this to him. Let's give him a fair shot at fixing this! Write him at:damianc(AT)hifisim.comHope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi Gerald,Please check your registery, under the following location:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator9.0EXE PathThis is the folder that the installer uses to default the install location to. If the folder is not correct the installer SHOULD allow you to select a correct one, but for some reason there is another problem.Did you install FS9 under a different user name than you are using when installing AS2004?Anyhow, please check the reg value as above, and make sure it is set properly to your FS9 folder. I suspect this is wrong here, and setting it correctly should solve the problem. Please let us know!

Hi Damian:Just to advise you that I too was getting this same error, however mine was occuring on my networked WideFS PC. I did as you suggested and ran regedit and sure enough, there was no string set. So I was able to successfully install ASv6. I now need to get Active Radar setup which is giving me problems. It seems that the AR setup was installed on my FS PC and not my client PC. Kind Regards,Ken
