November 24, 200421 yr Hi Thomas,It's not your fault, but here we go again! FS04 comes out and planes are being blown all over the sky. We work like crazy to get around this and with Pete's help we smooth out the winds. Now we want turbulence again! Well, there still is turbulence, but it is toned down quite a bit. Fly enough around storms and heavy clouds and you should find some. If you put a check in the Disable Direct Wind Control box, you may get more turbulence, but wind directions may be inaccurate. Not related to this, but please turn Off your TAF processing.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
November 24, 200421 yr Hi Jim,About this TAF processing and that you advice to turn it off, what exactly is this TAF processing and why should it be turned on/off?Reason I ask is that the documentation says this on the subject:"At any time, if you would rather use ONLY THE METAR REPORTS for processing (traditional METAR weather generator), you can disable the TAF processing option. This is not recommended! Flying in dynamic conditions will bring changing, challenging and sometimes unpredictable weather representation, which is a leap ahead for weather simulation realism."Cheers,
November 24, 200421 yr TAF processing should be enabled when flying off-line.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
November 24, 200421 yr To add a bit more, TAFs are future forcasts of conditions. In Offline Mode they can be used when the TAF is more "time accurate" than the METAR. In Online Mode this is rarely the case, as most stations update once an hour, but Iknow that this is not always the case.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
November 24, 200421 yr FS9 has this turbulence parameter in the config file. By default it is 1.0. Later some folks were recommending to lower it to around 0.4 since there was feeling there was abnormal amount of turbulence in FS9. If you feel now you are not getting enough turbulence you may want to play with this constant and raise its value.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
