Active Sky on Stand-Alone PC?

Featured Replies

This may sound like a stupid question

Hi. I can answer part of that, coz I asked too recently. There are no default conditions, and I was also advised that you cannot manually configure weather conditions. From what I understand, you download and get what you get.CheersTim

Atcive Sky can also recreate weather based on old (historical) data. So internet connection is not absolutely necessary if you want to use it in the off-line mode.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

Yes, you can download current or historical weather, save it on a floppy and move it to your new machine. It would require 2 installs of AS2004.5, one on each machine.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Just curious as to why you wouldn't have an internet connection on the new machine? Even with dial-up there are ways to share the connection with proxy software...

Maybe I am being over cautious, but I have been reading the recent threads of how virus checkers can slow down your FPS. Also, have been reading other threads about the more software you have installed, that overtime your system slows down. I was just thinking about having a really clean dedicated machine just for flight simming only. I haven't gone this direction yet, but am planning on buying a new pc in the next month or two.

I have new machine with free Avast virus checking utility and really, this program takes absolutely insignificant amount resources. And with XP-SP2 your exposure to viruses is really drastically reduced. I think you are overblowing the issue.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2
