June 25, 200520 yr Hi AS gangFirst off well done on a great product... I did however notice a frame rate hit between as 2004.5 B193 and AS5 with the SU installed. Can something be done about this espically during updates... Anyway I was wondering if the Mip Maps could negitively affect performance as I found perfrormance better with mips off, also disabeling global writes seemed to help some. Also can we have the throttling feature back please. Apart from that well done gang on a great product!!! See screen shot below - un edited in game shot AVG FPS 24 specs in signature.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/120552.jpg
June 25, 200520 yr Hi MAD,Thanks for the pic!Mips should help your system.Your cloud draw distance is too high.Uncheck the Favor Cumulus vs Stratus box.How long is just the download taking?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
June 26, 200520 yr Hi Jim,As usual thanks for the fast response. Listen I don't think you understood me. I have the cloud draw set at 50 like always... The problem seems to be when the clouds are DRAWN to FS after they are drawn (I lock at 30 and get an average of 28 over a 3 hour flight) the FPS is smoothe as silk. This problem seems to have started with the release of FSUIPC 3.48 seems to have been made worst by AS5. I downgraded again yesterday to B193 of AS2004.5 and this problem went away with the same settings. I will re enable the mips and will let you know from there. I do think however it's still a bandwidth throttling problem. I have reported the issue with ATI because as we can see from the posts here it's mainly an ATI problem, but they have done nothing to fix this. So we will go from there. Is there anything you guys can do. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/120668.jpg
June 26, 200520 yr Hi MAD,OK I am trying to better understand the situation also!! So I need to ask: do your stutters happen during the actual download of the weather or when the clouds are being drawn on your screen? Or at some other time I didn't list?!!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
June 26, 200520 yr Hi Jim,No problem mate. This occurs when the clouds are being drawn on the screen... In hi density weather station aread it happens quite a bit.
June 26, 200520 yr Hi MAD,Thanks for that!! Now we can eliminate download throttling. That has nothing to do with this. So now it is the way that ASV is displaying the clouds. Are you using 256 or 512? Do this also, post your ASV.ini and I'll take a look at your settings!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
June 26, 200520 yr Hi jim,Thanks once again for the outstanding support... I'm using the 256 version of the clouds mips enabled. June 27, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi, "I downgraded again yesterday to B193 of AS2004.5 and this problem went away with the same settings."You can eliminate the clouds as well as issue, since the clouds remain in fs2004, no matter what's program you are using.Try to re install FSUIPC. See if there is a difference with Fs2004 at full screen or windowed mode.ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
June 27, 200520 yr Hi Chris,Great job on the textures by the way. Listen I reinstalled FSUIPC I have the reg version. I think that is where the problem lies. Some of my friends have reported the same issue using another weather addon after upgrading to FSUIPC 3.48. I think we need another update to this version but none have bene released since april if I remember correctly. The performance is a little better in windowed mode... Do you think I should go with that? I don't like seeing the title bar at the top of the screen... Fussy aren't I ;). I have a suggestion for you guys for the update. Seeing that we have ICS can we do something about the sky conditions too? E.G. select different color sky according to the conditions? I was using ICS and random env and had one flight where it was like dusk the entire way... Didn't mind but seems very odd to have dusk skies at 22:30. Well just a suggestion...Keep up the good work.
June 27, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi, At the Msfs web site, They recommend to use Fs in windowed mode for better performance."Didn't mind but seems very odd to have dusk skies at 22:30. Well just a suggestion..."This should not happend, the timing are controled with fs2004. ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
June 28, 200520 yr I have a similar problem. So i got the idea to convert the textures from 32bit to DXT3 or even DXT1 for better frame rates? Is that possible or is it a stupid idea?
June 28, 200520 yr Commercial Member HI Andi,We the update, we will release the convertion of DXT3.If you read 320MAD:"I think that is where the problem lies. Some of my friends have reported the same issue using another weather addon after upgrading to FSUIPC 3.48. "ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
June 28, 200520 yr Hi Chris,This happened to me again today... now I used to fly with 2004.5 and your night sky the sky was black!!! is there any chance of getting this with the AS5 update for all of the sky sets? I found the fixed ones are not "black" at night nor are some of the others... I'm just being picky...
