ASV - Start Paused

Featured Replies

I realize the manual recommends starting ASV and entering the departure and destination points prior to starting FS9, but I use FSNAV within FS9 to do my flight planning and then start ASV. It works, but it always loads the data for just the current location. I have to wait til it finishes and then do an Import Flight Plan and load everything a second time. I have the Start Paused option checked and the Un-Pause on FS Ready option unchecked, but ASV un-pauses anyway as soon as it detects FS9 is active. Is there any way I can keep ASV from loading the current location data until I import ther flight plan (with FS9 running)? Thanks,Dale

Did you update it? I had that problem as well until I updated it and then replaced the icon on my quick launch bar with the updated one.

In FSNav, I export to FS9 plan, create a flight with correct plane/flight number, load the flight plan and save the flight with wx cleared. Once I do that I shut down FS9 and start ASV. I use ICS + Random, so some textures may get changed. Then I start FS9 ("Ignore FS Ready Status" keeps ASV from updating wx straight away). I then import the plan. After ASV has processed the plan and I've connected to internet (dialup :( ), I refresh ASV (takes awhile on dialup) and fly!

I checked the ActveSky website and didn't see anything about an available update - where do I get it?Thanks,Dale

Yes, I can see that that procedure would work, but it would mean I would have to also save the flightplan in FSNAV and then close FS9 and restart it after ASV is up - I use FSAutostart, so would have to go through that process again. It just seems like there ought to be a way to keep ASV from processing until I tell it to. I have "Ignore FS Ready Status" checked, but it doesn't prevent it from updating if FS9 is already running.Dale

Hi,HiFi developers said in another post that they will have a look at the startup routine and hopefully this problem will go away after that as well.My issue has been that I want both ICS+Random textures picked and submitted automatically to FS9 AND correct local weather set right from start and this is not possible the way the startup routine is designed today.Problem is that to have correct local weather you have to have the 'Start paused' option checked but by having that option checked, ASV will not pick and submit any textures when you fire it up and then when FS9 is running and ASV detects that...then it's too late submitting any textures other than cirrus cloud textures. I got a reply from HiFi that ASV do pick and submit textures once it gets the 'FS Ready' signal only that those textures won't show up until after FS has been restarted but that doesn't seem to be the case...at least not by looking at the status text in ASV...no messages about submitting random textures. This could easily be solved by letting ASV startup like this:1. Pick and submit ICS + random textures (if this mode is enabled)2. PAUSE3. Detect 'FS Ready' and start downloading and processing the present local weatherWell, I'm sure Damian & Co eventually will work out these problems and making this great product even better!!
