August 12, 200520 yr Hi,Am still sturggling a little with using ASV ie I go to the new route box and fill in all the sections then afterwards press the import button which should create my flight plan but I get the box which just says file name is *pln and don't know what to save the file name as because therer isn't anything there.Secondly I tried to alter the weather using FS2004 weather to see if anything showed up on the radar which it didn't then had a go at altering the weather on ASV and that didn't show up on radar so don't know what's happening there.Lastly how do I find out if there is a headwind or tailwind is this through creating the flight plan as I need this for my correct fuel planning etc.Am sorry to keep asking questions I have looked at manual and still confused again would appreciate any help,I would say once I get used to using this programme its a excellent one to use as from peoples posting.Kindest RegardsJason Thompson Jason Thompson
August 12, 200520 yr Hi Jason,The import button will only import a flightplan that has been saved previously to FS9. When you fill out the new route with departure, destination, alternate, and altitude, hit the Process button to have ASV compute the weather. If you want to use a flightplan you created in FS9 or any flightplanner capable of exporting flightplans in .pln format, you use the Import button to select one from the Flight Simulator Files directory (default). After getting the flightplan loaded, close that window and hit the refresh button on the ASV main screen to load the weather into FS9.You will only get enroute winds forcasting by creating a flightplan with waypoints between your departure and destination.
August 12, 200520 yr Author Hi Jim,So for the enroute winds I would have to create the flight plan using FS2004 flight planner is that correct not the new route planner via ASV is that right? Obviuosly if I had FSbuild then that would give me enroute winds wouldn't it because I'd of created the flight plan using that programme I think I finally understand am I thinking on the right lines and understanding what you have said, would that give me the figure for either a headwind or tailwind aswell?ThanksJason Thompson Jason Thompson
August 12, 200520 yr Correct, you need to create a flightplan within FS9 if you don't use an external flightplanner. Save it, then open ASV and import that flightplan and process it. Enroute winds will be displayed in the NavLog of ASV.
