September 11, 200520 yr I like the new ASV and the clouds generally are very convincing IMHO.However flying at 15,000 (tho' it happens with other heights) I often see mist in the valleys which looks more like a milky jelly (or Jello!) has been poured in!Milky because it is dead smooth and semi-transparent with irregular but smooth edges.Jelly because the edge is constantly shaking, quite fast and by about 5 miles on the ground! It looks most UNconvincing and for the time it is in view completely spoils the realism.I also still get cloud changes 'banging in' when the weather data is updated. I would like to see a smooth change over at least a few seconds.Any help/advice would be welcomed.ThanksNigel
September 11, 200520 yr Hi,For all of this, please post your ASV.ini file. Some of your settings may have to do with both things.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg

September 13, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi,The problem may be due to the fact that cloud layers are going to be drawn low to the ground, fairly often, when visibilities are low and "Fog Layer Generation" is enabled. I have seen the effect in mountainous terrain, made worse with certain video card setups... Based on prior knowledge, this is an FS9 display "issue" more than anything else. I would recommend turning off this "Fog Layer" option when flying in such areas to avoid the undesirable effect.Hope that helps! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
September 17, 200520 yr Thanks Damian! One more thing though, what about Nigel's statement above regarding clouds "banging in". I see this too frequently with clouds suddenly appearing and disappearing.I thought this had been fixed with v4.5 (and now v5, which I'm running)? I really dig the program Damian. It's half the fun of flying! Just curious about the "Houdini clouds" though.Thanks.Ed Lin, D.O.S.
September 17, 200520 yr Hi Ed,You need to try by increasing your Supression Ceiling. Low and Slow should be at 4000. Mostly flying the big guys should be set at 10000.Please give this a try and report back when you get a chance!!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
