September 27, 200520 yr This is a strange one.I have noticed that when tuning into 122.0 to get the weather enroute and for the destination, there seems to be a bug.I just flew into EGPO (Stornoway) looking for bad weather. I tuned to 122.0 about 50 miles out to get the weather (there is no ATIS frequency at EGPO) and the voice told me that there was a ceiling (ie broken/overcast - or else it would be cloud base) of broken at 018 (BKN018CB) but the text then scrolled accross saying FEW018CB.I have noticed on several occasions that the voice does not match the text display. On arriving, I believe that the text was telling the truth, not the voice.
September 27, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi,Depending on your "Force Tstorms with CB" option, ASV can make a thunderstorm scenario out of this CB layer which may involve changing the coverage for appropriate depiction. This may result in differences as you notice. There can be other reasons for differences, mainly due to options settings which alter your depicted weather by design. Overcast enhancement, max cloud layers, wind options, Direct wind control, fog layer generation, upper-layer cloud generation, force lowest ceiling, CAVOK cloud generation, and many more options can all change things up..If there is a specific discrepancy you find that just doesn't make any sense, please ask here... We'd be happy to investigate for you!Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
September 27, 200520 yr Author Thanks,That probably explains it.I am running force thunderstorms and overcast enhancement.I was just a little puzzled that the voice gave one weather, and then the scrolled weather a few seconds later (which I thought was for people with the voice dissabled) gave different weather - both at the same timepoint.Whatever the actual weather though, it is trully stunning! Thanks again,Neil
