Access error - bmp in use

Hi all,Having resolved my earlier problem of DX texture enablement I'm not getting the attached error message running AS6 across WideFS. I've had a look in the FAQ but can't see this particular problem mentioned.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/137056.jpgI have downloaded the patch but haven't installed it yet. Any clues as to why this is happening? My FS9 folder is shared with read/write access and so is my ActiveSky6 folder with the same permissions. The error happened twice. First time whilst taxiing to the runway on departure and the second about 15 minutes after departure. No further instances after that.Any help appreciated.

Hi Jim,I installed the patch and I left FS and AS6 running whilst I entertained some friends. On returning I find the error message is displayed again presumably as the weather is changing but AS6 can't load the required BMPs.I have the options set for Wx preference so I get the most appropriate clouds for the weather.Cheers,

Jim,An update on what I've done since posting my earlier reply. I realised I hadn't saved my preferences because on loading the AS Graphics program my preferences of Wx related weren't displayed. Instead Random was shown.I've now saved my preferences and loaded FS / AS6. So far things seem okay. One question... in the folder ActiveSky6ModulesASGraphicsWorkTexture I have no files present. Previously there were over 100 files there. Is this good or bad?Cheers,

Hi there,I am experiencing the exact same error message with ActiveSky 6 build 446 and .NET 2.0 installed. Saving the themes as 'weather-related' does not seem to help in my case. And indeed, it only happens once or twice during a flight. If you have any more clues about what to do I appreciate that very much Arne

Arne,I'm sorry you're having the same problem as me but I feel relieved I'm not suffering alone.I'm still getting the error message and although I've read through the available documentation I can't find any reference to this problem or any resolution. I'm also running build 446 but although I'm sure I have Net 2.0 installed I can't find out the version number. Can Jim or anyone on the AS team give us any clue as to what circumstances cause this error to occur please? Once I know what's causing it we might be close to solving it.In all the time I've had ASV I never had a single problem so it's very unusual to get them now given the team's excellent track record.Cheers,

Hi Ray,This is a strange one...ASG, when doing a submission, first generates all appropriate files and stores them in the Work folder. Then once everything is ready for FS9, all the files get copied to the FS9 folder, then the work folder is emptied (all files deleted). It sounds like somehow, probably due to network delays, the file is still technically being copied to the FS9 folder when the delete request comes.. throwing the error. It might be related to AV software scanning too... Maybe everything is just happening too quick for the network/AV to keep up.I could prepare a test build with some delays plugged in, to see if it helps. Please write me @ [email protected] and I'll send it to you (and anyone else experiencing this that would like to test). Thanks!

Hi Damian,I use Ken Salter's FSAutoStart program to shut down all non-essential programs so no AV software is running. I have a modem-router so that affords me decent protection.I notice the files do get deleted from that folder eventually so it could be a timing thing as you suggest. It may help if I describe how I start things...1. I launch FS9 via FSAutoStart. Once it's loaded I launch FSAutoStart on my other PC linked via WideFS and it loads six programs one of which is AS6. I always have it 'paused' on startup and then decide whether I'm going to run in on-line mode or whether I will download archived weather.Whichever option I choose more often that not I get that error message - usually twice after which things settle down and there are usually no further occurences although I did have one in-flight one yesterday.I've written to you privately. Thanks,

Hi Damian,Haven't had much time to test after Dec 31, but...The last 2 "access errors" I experienced both seems to be related to the 'halo' file. I can't remember whether the first errors had some thing to do with that as well.Hope this might give another clue!By the way - it is all so beautiful :)
