Texture restore error

Featured Replies

I installed ASV and ASG. I understand that this ought not to have altered my fs9/texture folder. I believe it just created a backup of this folder in my ASGraphics folder in the Modules folder. I then did a Quick Select and installed a Sky Color. I ran fs9 and then shut it down. I then tried to use the ASG Options button "Restore Original Pre-ASG FS9 Texture Folder" and I got the following error message:Unable to restore texture folder...Access to the path "C:Flight Simulator 2004Flight Simulator 9Texture000b2su1.bmp" is denied. This is the correct path for my fs9/texture folder. But I don't understand why the restore doesn't work. Can anyone help me as to what's going on here? Thanks.Robert

Hi Robert,Update with the link at the top of this forum and then try a restore. Early on there was a problem here. Remember, you can always manually copy the files, but we would like the automatic restore to work correctly.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

Hi Robert,The file appears open for some reason, with no write access given. It could be open from AV software, security software, etc.Perhaps try a restart (computer) and then try the restore option again, to see if something had it open?Hope that helps,

Hi Jim and Damian,Well, I've tried both your suggestions and I still get the error message when I try to restore my pre-ASG textures. Any further thoughts on how I can get this to work? Should I uninstall the program completely and reinstall it from scratch? One more comment. I have a backup of my pre-ASG texture folder from a month ago. It has about 60 fewer textures than are found in the backup texture folder created by ASG. I was wondering if you could tell me where these extra 60 textures came from. Since making my backup a month ago, I have only altered my setup in 2 ways: First, I installed scenery for KBOS, but I did this manually for the most part and I don't recall any files being placed in the fs9/texture folder. Second, I upgraded my Active Sky setup to ASV. Other than these two changes, there have been no changes to my fs9 setup as I was away for the month after I made my backup and didn't touch it until I returned last week and added KBOS and ASV. Does the basic installation of ASV and ASG add about 60 textures to the fs9/texture folder? If so, that would explain where these additional textures came from that are in the backup created by ASG.Thanks. Robert

Hi Robert,Send me an email at [email protected] and I'll try and solve this with you. I have a new build prepared which will allow the process to continue and simply report each failed file attempt. This should give us more insight. As to the texture file backup by ASG (which runs on first ASG run after install), it simply backs up the entire contents of FS9's texture folder as it exists at that time. There was also change in an earlier build which skips read-only/hidden/system files (as these will always fail on copy back attempt). This might be part of the problem, if you do have some read-only/hidden/system files in there. Take a look at the file properties on the error file mentioned and look at the file attributes. Please let me know what you find and do e-mail me so I can send you that build. Thanks!Best,
