January 24, 200620 yr Please be carefull if you plan to edit this file. You can cause AS to not work if you do.If there are errors the best way to deal with them is to report them so that Damian can update the file for any future service updates.JT
January 24, 200620 yr Thanks for the concern JT, understood (and file duly backed up!).I am not trying to fix any errors, I am just testing the addition of several missing Australian WX stations. So far so good ;-)Cheers,Andy
January 24, 200620 yr Just be aware that adding a station that is not in the snapshot might cause AS to return an error.I havent said anything on the forum untill now, but I guess I might as well ;)A couple of weeks ago I started working with Damian to update the station list for AS. We found about 130 stations in FS that was missing from the list. I researched them all and returned the result. Also identified a number of stations wich new ICAO code so that they are translated into the FS station.I do not know if a new list have been included in any of the recent service updates yet, but I am sure it will be once Damian is confident that there are no errors. This also explains why people reported larger downloads recently ;)FYI I found 11 Australian stations.
January 24, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi,Yes indeed Jan has helped us a bunch - spending lots of time making additions and corrections to this data file. Thanks Jan!!!!The inclusion of this new data will occur in the next free update. As for adding missing stations manually, this is possible but realize that the data will be copied from a nearby station and not from the ICAO METAR source. To enable the METAR, it needs to be added on the server as well (which we are doing for the next update).Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 25, 200620 yr I only fly on VATSIM. We are fortunate enough to have an extensive list of Australian WX stations that are fed into the VATSIM network. The station that I added manually was YMAV.Prior to adding this station, when at or in the vicinity of YMAV, AS would set the weather from etiher:- YMLV (not even close!)- YMML (closer, but inland with different weather)- YLTV (not as close as YMML and very different weather)The test steps were:I got the metar from Servinfo. Added the station. Opened AS6. Did a fetch on YMAV. Data matched Servinfo. Connected to VATSIM. Re-downloaded WX in AS6. Data matched Servinfo and SB3 metar fetch for YMAV. Winds etc. correct in FS. Waited. Checked Servinfo, metar had been updated. Re-downloaded WX in AS6. Data matched Servinfo and SB3 metar fetch for YMAV.I assume that the difference here is the use of VATSIM WX for arrival and departure.
January 25, 200620 yr Hi guys,Can you please clarify the file format of wx_station_list.txt?My understanding is that it is comma separated text with:Column 1: ICAO Airport CodeColumns 2&3: LAT / LONColumn 4: Altitude in Metres?Column 5: ?Many thanks,Andy
January 25, 200620 yr Hi,Right. And we are working to add stations in a future Update.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg
February 3, 200620 yr It appears that the weather at VNKT is also missing. If this could be added to the list it would be much appreciated. thanks Matt
February 3, 200620 yr VNKT, Kathmandu, is working as it should. Got autogen report there when I checked it. Looking at past metars it is not reporting more than half the cycles.
