Long flight crashes

Featured Replies

This issue is a little vague to me but I want to run it by others to see if there are any other similar reports.Im not even sure it active sky related but i have a strong senserecently with my pdmg I have had rpoblems with fs9 crashing on long flights with a sky. Obviously very frustrating on a long flight.I fairly sure it post service update. and I have never had it happen without act sky running. I also have a vague idea it may do with fs9 when fs9 pauses for some reason ( it is set to do so at top of decent) I know this is vague but wonder if anyone else has had similar probs.Mike

ive had a few crashes as well in the last weeks. just installed win xp and fs9 completely new, but still had a few crashes on long time flights. i dont know though if its fs9's fault or activesky but its strongly related to the memory usage. at like 3 hours of flight it had already 1,4gb in the memory usage. i cant relate it to active sky directly though but it could fit to the time range after the sp3.regards, tom.

Hi All,A few things:1. Any error messages?2. Is ASG always running in the background?3. Could it be the scenery folder memory leak situation in FS04?4. If ASv6 is not running do you get the crash?5. Can you duplicate with a default plane?6. Is this in one area of the world or all over? Here is an interesting thread:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=304494&page=Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

hi, i cleaned up my scenery folders and changed back to fsuipc 3.4.8.0. did some 6 hours flight in an other plane and i had no problems. i will do further tests.regards, tom.

I have been running fs without active sky for over 24hours consecutive without any crashes, including long periods when the simulation was paused. Its been awhile since I have been able to do this with it running in the background. so thus it appears the problem is active sky relatedIM really not clear on the issue presented in the thread you listed or this memory leak issue. I would like more understanding so I can investigate itMike

IS this memory leak an identified fs2004 issue or act sky?I have found some reference to it including in the service updates fix. Though I cant say I have seen an error message, but the crashes often occur when Im away from the pc

OK I have an updateafter running fs2004 without problem for a good 28 hoursI decided to start act sky 6 and track memory usagefs was at about 550mb where it had been the entire timeact sky started at about 45mb then settled to 8mbwithin ten minutes fs2004 crashed and closed without a sign or message, it just happened to be in paused simulation at the timeact sky continued without noticeMike

Problem is with active sky running but not asgraphics if that is what you refer toagain Im unlcear on the issue here addressed in that thread.ThanksMike

Hi Mike,AS is almost certainly not the cause of the crash, although it can make the system a bit stressed (rich cloud depiction) and reveal any underlying problems where you might not normally notice them. The most common reason for CTDs: Bad scenery files, Bad AI or AFCAD files, bad AIRAC files (with certain aircraft), overheating video cards or buggy video drivers. There are literally hundreds of threads on this in our forum here as well as the main FS forum. You'll find that AS is very commonly "looked at" as being problematic but in the end, in every case thus far, the problem was indeed elsewhere. You can completely eliminate AS from the mix by doing this: First load a normal flight with ASv6... start the flight and save it after a while (maybe after 2 hours if you normally get crashes after that point). Then reboot everything, don't load ASv6, and load/continue your flight. The weather situation will be in exact FS-controlled format which COULD in fact be re-created manually or via real weather downloads (eliminating any possibility that the wx data format provided by AS is bad). You will "almost certainly" experience the same CTD situation. My advice would be to turn off any other add-ons most importantly scenery, or AI.... Then run some flights to confirm things are working without problem. Then add the add-ons back on flight at a time until the problem returns and you know where to look.Hope that helps..Best,

Jim,im just doing all the flights again that i had crashes with. so far ive not had one single crash in the last days, the FSUIPC seems to be the cause so far. i thought at first that the reality xp gauges had a problem with fsuipc version, but somehow now its all fine. i had like 2-3 crashes a day with the old config.regards, tom.

Hi Tom,I still need you to try with V3.53. My reason is that thousands of users are using the latest combination without CTDs, so it still could be something else on your system.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

I will continue testing and report backmy only addons are pdmg, and asky

Jim, maybe it was something in the scenery that i cleaned up, but it works now, i although stopped asg from running all the time. im fine with the older fsuipc version ,i dont miss any features. never change a running system :)regards, tom.
