Jim, I've run into a problem that I can't fix. I'm still using FS2002 and use wxRE 1.92.4. I'm using FSUIPC 2.975 and have tried every combo I can think of and yet I get the same result on two different computers. No matter what I do, when ever the visibility is less then 1SM (in the metar), flight Sim sets the vis to 1/8th of a mile. For example; if CYHZ has this weather reported: CYHZ 300300Z 19918G26KT 3/4SM BKN080 08/07 A3007Active sky knows its .75SM, but in FS2002, it's set to 1/8th SM which is impossible to land in. It doesn't matter where I go, if the visibility is reported to be less then 1SM, weRE sets the vis in FS2002 to 1/8th SM. I have removed FSUIPC and set FS2002 visibility manually and I can adjust it to 1/8th, 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 with no problems. I then reinstall FSUIPC and can still set the vis to 1/8th, 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 with no problems. I then used FSmetar (another wx program) and it correctly sets the visibility ok using the same FSUIPC settings. But when I use wxRE1.92.4 it always sets the visibility to 1/8th of a mile only when the visibility is less then 1SM. If the visibility is greater than 1SM, I have no problems. It's only when the visibility in the metar report is below 1SM, do I have a problem. HELP Please....I love weRE and have been using it for years now, and can't believe I've never seen the problem before... I've reinstalled weRE two times now, set FSUIPC to default settings, but still cannot resolve this problem. I've searched the forms here and have seen others mention a problem with 1/8th visibility, but no fix...I guess my next question is, do you folks still have fs2002 installed, and do you still have a copy of weRE 1.92.4 to test this problem? It's solid on both of my PC's..... You can download any weather metar, and if you manually change the vis in the metar report to below 1sm, I'm sure you'll see the problem....Help Please...weRE ini://wxRE configuration file - be careful with edits here[General]WXREOfflinePath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREACA636ExportPath = OperationMode = OfflineDefaultOfflineFile = cycle01Z.wxdDisableCloudTransitions = FalseDisableMessages = TrueLowBandwidthWinds = FalseExportMetars = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueMETARUpdateInterval = 15FDUpdateInterval = 45UpdateMETAROnNewStation = TrueUseShortTermTAF = FalseWindsAloftSimulation = FalseFS2004Writes = FalseIdlePriority = FalseVATSIMMetars = FalseDefaultForceRange = 80ZuluConversion = -6RainVisReduction = FalseOvercastHorizonVis = FalseDisableForceWindUpdates = TrueTAFProcessing = FalseWakeTurb = FalseDisableUpdatesWhenForced = FalseStartPaused = TrueCloudTransitionInterval = 30MinimumCloudThickness = 200UseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEProxyPort = 80FSUPIC ini:[General]GenerateRain=NoGenerateCirrus=YesWindShearSharp=YesAutoTaxiWind=NoUpperWindGusts=NoStormsAutomatic=NoGraduatedVisibility=YesLowerVisAltitude=6000UpperVisAltitude=25000ExtendMetarMaxVis=YesPatchWeatherToADV=YesPlanLoadNoPosition=NoPatchSimApAlt=YesAutoClearWeather=YesApplyVisFix=YesWindTransitions=NoExtendTopWind=YesWindSmoothness=5CopyDewPtToDayNightVar=YesSmoothPressure=NoPressureSmoothness=5SmoothVisibility=NoVisibilitySmoothness=2MaxSurfaceWind=0WindVarFactor=7WindLimitLevel=200WindDiscardLevel=400WindSetVariance=NoSubterraneanWindFix=YesMagWindsToFST=NoWindAjustAltitude=NoWindAjustAltitudeBy=2000MinimumVisibility=0MaximumVisibilityFewClouds=6000MaximumVisibility=2000MaximumVisibilityOvercast=2000MaximumVisibilityRainy=1000UpperVisibility=6000OneCloudLayer=NoThinClouds=NoThinThunderClouds=NoStormProbability=0StormMinTemp=10StormParameters=1030530CloudThinness=1000ThunderCloudThinness=10000CloudTurbulence=NoCloudIcing=NoCloudForJetTrails=NoCloudForVSky=NoWindTurbulence=NoSuppressAllGusts=NoExternalOptionControl=YesAutoTuneADF=NoMagicBattery=YesAxisCalibration=NoTCASid=FlightTCASrange=40SendWeatherAlways=NoSendWeatherInterval=60RainStopper=75RainStarter=75KeepFS98CloudCover=NoRudderSpikeRemoval=NoElevatorSpikeRemoval=NoAileronSpikeRemoval=NoShowPMcontrols=NoAdjustWeatherATIS=YesCloudTurbulenceToWinds=NoFixRainProblem=YesTrapUserInterrupt=YesNavFreq50KHz=NoClockSync=NoSmoothIAS=YesMinVSkyAltitude=40000TrafficScanPerFrame=10SuppressCloudTurbulence=NoSuppressWindTurbulence=NoFixWindows=NoFixControlAccel=YesMainMenu=&ModulesSubMenu=&FSUIPC ...[JoystickCalibration]FlapsSetControl=0ReverserControl=66292MaxThrottleForReverser=0AileronTrimControl=0RudderTrimControl=0http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144314.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144315.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144316.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144317.jpg

PS: This is what it should look like with 3/4 SM vis: I set this manuallly in FS2002http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144318.jpgI have just reinstalled XP on a new HDD, then Installed FS2002, and Installed weRE 1.92.4 and get the same results as on my old PC. Any suggestions are welcome, as I want weRE to work with FS2002...

Hi RJ,I have wxRE still installed but not FS2002. It is late for me now so I can't do anything tonight. Wednesday's are a long day for me at work and home, so I will not promise anything for tomorrow. But give me a chance and I'll get to this ASAP and get back with you here.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

I Can't believe this bug has gone undetected all this time... I realize, wxRE is now dead, but it looks like this bug started after the weRE 1.1 update.. I un-installed wxRE each time and tested. I tried weRE version's 1.1, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.87, 1.9, 1.92, 1.92.4 and all versions produce the same problem. If the visibility is below 1SM, the vis is always set to 1/8th SM in FS. Version 1.0 works ok.I then dragged out my old windows 98 Hardrive with contains FS2002 and active sky 1.92. I did the same test:CYHZ 300300Z 19918G26kt 3/4SM SCT080 08/01 A3007.Same result, visibility set to 1/8SM in FS2002 whenever the metar has a visibility less then 1SM...I wonder if anyone out their is still using FS2002 and weRE?Please test and let me know... Thanks...

I still use wxRE along with FS2002Pro. Not sure about your problem, but I have a problem with the visibility updating within Fs2002. When the visibility drops below 10 miles. It takes FS2002 to update the visibility. Example: KIAH 101512Z 14010KT 1 1/2SM BR FEW003 BKN008 BKN060 BKN250 20/19 A2973FS2002 is still showing 20 miles visibility. Now, it will recognize an change the visibility about 30 to 45 mins from now. I have to change it manually for it to work. if it does not update within a timely manner.

Grahm, thanks for the response.... I was starting to get worried that I'm the only one still using wxRE... LOL I'm hoping Jim has time to quickly check and see if he can re-create my problem, because I've been trying to fix it now for over a week... I realize wxRE is old, and I don't expect anymore patches, but it would be nice if someone out there could confirm this problem. If it's just me, then so be it. I hate to shoot a problem (waste time), if I can't fix it.As for you're problem, that one sounds strange. However, I do, and still have a problem with wxRE not updating weather properly while online. If I fly with wxRE offline, no problem. That's what I've been doing for the last while. I gave up online weather updates, because for me, it stopped working after 1.92.4. Anyways, that's another story...See my previous post:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&topic_id=11052About you're problem... In FSUIPC, under the visibility tab, you can set visibility smoothing so that the visibility changes 10% every so many seconds... Do you have this checked on, or off? That's about all I can think of, re you problem.... Let me know...Cheers

Hi All,Over the past few days I have had a chance to look at things. I'll go ahead and combine everything into one post.First, keep in mind that I am using FS2004, with the latest FSUIPC, default settings and weather settings off. wxRE is set up to use FS04.The easy one, for me, is the update situation. I can get wxRE to update correctly and send the data to FS. FS gets the data quickly because I can watch this with WeatherSet. FS graphically updates quickly. However, if I go to the weather options in FS, those lag behind a bit. A few manual refreshes changes the data on the weather options page. The one I could not figure out is the visibility issue. RJ, I got the same results as you have been getting. Any visibility under 1 mile gets set to the minimum. WeatherSet shows this and so does the graphics in FS. The Status page of wxRE reports the correct visibility. In the revisions log the only mention of this is from V1.0 to V1.1 1/4SM visibility was added. I am sure that this was tested during all the rounds of testing, so I don't think it is an issue that was overlooked. I know the data format has not changed and NOAA is still the server for data. I have gone through everything I could to get to the bottom of this and this is all I could find.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Jim, thanks for the update..... I won't waste my time then trying to fix this on two different computers at my location. I don't expect a patch for such an old product, but just wanted to confirm, that my set-up is not the problem..... However, if a patch was released (hint hint), I'd welcome it with open arms because I don't see myself upgrading to FS2004 anytime soon....Thanks again Jim for taking the time and helping out... I do appreciate your time and efforts...PS: Damian... As one of the original beta testers of wxRE, I'm still testing wxRE..... Probably the only original beta member to still be using wxRE..... :-lolThanks for all your support and the enjoyment you created by releasing wxRE for FS2002....

3Green,I have also replicated the issue you are having. It's not only you.I'm a faithful user of wxRE along with FS2002 Pro.Geat Weather gen! When I saw the visibility drop below a mile, I'de set the visibility manually within FS2002. I know, it sucks. But it works.

Grahm, I've switch to this weather program for FS2002. http://personal.telefonica.terra.es/web/fsmetar/It updates and displays the visibility properly and its free. I used it this morning and it worked great.Only downside, you can't set (force) the weather so many miles from your destination. However that said, Active sky worked ok here, but sometimes depending upon the winds aloft, ATC would still vector you to the wrong runway.With FSMetar, their is a work around for this, if you fly with offline weather. What I do is download weather to a file, and then only use weathers stations along my route and change the weather to meet my needs. The weather at departing airport and arriving airport is real weather, its just the weather in between I change to make the flight more realistic. I also set the weather the same about 200 miles out from the destination airport, that way ATC uses the same winds and I'm always vectored to the correct runway (under IFR). I re-flew the same flight I used with active sky, because I ended up crashing. The weather at the destination was suppose to be 1/2mile and 001 OVC but active sky set it to 1/8th mile. I ended up doing two approaches before crashing (running out of fuel)... LOL... This is when I realized I had a problem with the visibility not being set correctly with active sky 1.92.4.Here is an example how I changed the weather to fly with FSmetar. It works really good...CYYZ 300100Z 27016KT 15SM BKN040 OVC050 02/M04 A3005 RMK SC6SC2 SLP181CYKZ 300100Z 27016KT 15SM BKN040 OVC050 02/M04 A3005 RMK SC6SC2 SLP181CYPQ 300100Z 30006KT 9SM OVC020 OVC040 OVC047 01/M04 A3002 RMK SLP174CYTR 300100Z 26006KT 15SM BKN057 03/M00 A3002 RMK SC6 SLP168CYGK 300100Z 29006KT 15SM OVC060 04/00 A3001 RMK SC8 SLP166KMSS 300053Z 24010G17KT 10SM FEW013 SCT018 OVC035 06/04 A2995 RMK AO2 SLP142 T00560039KPLB 300153Z 24007KT 10SM OVC041 08/02 A2996 RMK AO2 SLP145 T00780017 TSNOKMVL 300154Z 22004KT 7SM -RA OVC033 07/06 A2997 RMK AO2 SLP155 P0003 T00670056KHIE 300152Z 00000KT 10SM -RA OVC026 09/09 A2990 RMK AO2 SLP128 P0004 T00890089KWVL 300215Z 00000KT 3/4SM OVC001 11/10 A2985 RMK AO1KBGR 300253Z 15005KT 1/2SM FG BKN001 BKN022 OVC034 10/10 A2988 RMK AO2 RAE38 SLP117KOLD 300300Z 20018G26KT 1/2SM OVC001 08/07 A3007 RMK FG4SF4 SLP186KEPO 300300Z 20018G26KT 1/2SM OVC001 08/07 A3007 RMK FG4SF4 SLP186CYSJ 300300Z 20018G26KT 1/2SM OVC001 08/07 A3007 RMK FG4SF4 SLP186CYZK 300300Z 20018G26KT 1/2SM OVC001 08/07 A3007 RMK FG4SF4 SLP186CWAH 300300Z 20018G26KT 1/2SM OVC001 08/07 A3007 RMK FG4SF4 SLP186CWUR 300300Z 20018G26KT 1/2SM OVC001 08/07 A3007 RMK FG4SF4 SLP186CYAW 300300Z 20018G26KT 1/2SM OVC001 08/07 A3007 RMK FG4SF4 SLP186CWBV 300300Z 20018G26KT 1/2SM OVC001 08/07 A3007 RMK FG4SF4 SLP186CYHZ 300300Z 20018G26KT 1/2SM OVC001 08/07 A3007 RMK FG4SF4 SLP186cheers..

Well, I spent some time on it. I finally got wxRE to do what I want it to do. Give me 10 miles visibiity an give the correct visibility in FS2002. It was all in the FSUIPC settings. I disabled the "Smooth Visibility Changes" as well disabled "Random Extend Metar Maxima."Now when a metar says 3 miles visibility, it gives me that visibility in FS2002 along with the other updates, temp, wind, dew point etc. I'de have to wait up to 10 to 45 mins for that to load at times. This is fixed.FS2002 used to give me 20 miles visibility when it showed 10 miles in the metar in wxRE. This is fixed. Disabled Random Extend Metar Maxima in FSUIPC.

Just an addition to the post I posted prior to this one. I had to leave for work an couldn't edit it.RJ,This morning I went to KCUT in FS2002:KCUT 121153Z AUTO 06010KT 3/4SM -SN BR VV004 M07/M08 A2973 RMK AO2 SLP107 P0002 60018 70018 T10671083 11044 21067 53000 TSNOI did see FS2002 set the visibility at 1/8 sm.I wonder if the visibility issue setting to the MIN below 1sm has anything to do with the FSUIPC? Since ActiveSky wxRE see's the setting.P.S.Damian, As a FS2002 user and a proud supporter of wxRE. I'de welcome an update to wxRE with open arms as well, I to probably won't update to FS2004 anytime soon.
