March 29, 200620 yr Couldnt find an answer so hopefully you can help. This is the first time I had to exit FS and restart FS while AS was running. I figured AS would detect the exit and restart of FS and refresh wx...It doesnt seem to do that and when I did a manual refresh it just sat there for the flight and nothing was updated.Question is should I have also exited AS along with FS and start over with both?ThanksBill
March 30, 200620 yr Hi Bill,Yes, AS should have recognized that FS had closed. How fast was it between the shut down and restart? Also, on restart the new location should have been recognized.Remember too that there is a fair amount of communication going on between AS--FSUIPC--FS04 and maybe the communication lines got crossed.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
March 30, 200620 yr Author Jim,I guess it was reasonably fast between shut down and restart. If you can think file, exit, and then I checked task manager to make sure FS had closed, and then I restarted FS.As you say maybe communications got lost. Will keep an eye on it in the event I have to do it againThanksBill
April 1, 200620 yr >Yes, AS should have recognized that FS had closed. How fast>was it between the shut down and restart?Hi Jim,Just to add to this, I have noticed that AS6 takes a minute or two to recognize that FS9 has shut down. During that time, response to mouse clicks in the AS6 interface is very slow. Once AS6 has figured out that FS9 is no longer there, response times return to normal. I don't recall if AS6 reconnected once FS9 was restarted, as I stopped doing that because of this. I now always shut down AS6 before shutting down FS9, even if I'm going to restart immediatly.I also have not tried the latest beta yet (just downloaded it.) I have FSUIPC registered.Hope that helps a bit,...jim
April 3, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi,If FS9 has shut down in the middle of a write process (writing hundreds of stations) then this is normal. ASv6 will attempt to continue the write process until a specific global FSUIPC timeout (about 2 minutes). Until then, the app is going to be tied up trying to communicate with a no-longer-open FS9.The solution to avoid this is to shutdown AS first, or wait until any write process is complete (check the main AS status text) before closing FS9.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
