ActiveSky V6 and FS Build 2.2

A newbie question...How does one apend weather data into the FS build flight plan?

On FSB folder options on the left open the options tab. Scroll to item 26 AS2004-ASV. Browse to your AS6 folder. At the bottom tab select Settings, check in the scroll list Apply Winds Aloft Data, then hit SAVE CONFIG OPTIONS. This establishes the data path and enables winds aloft (under build options) which takes effect on the NEXT FSB startup.AS VI should be running with weather loaded so your winds aloft is current.I usually run FSB to export an FS9 plan, click the new route tab in AS and import that route, print that AS6 navlog (all) and select the best cruise altitude from winds aloft data, with FSB rebuild the route at the new selected cruise altitude so correct winds aloft are applied to the new plan (in the aircraft tab make sure your correct aircraft, take-off temp, avg. winds is filled out (note that "-" is headwind", make sure you have selected TAXI, HOLD, EXTRA, etc. times in minutes, and rebuild that plan. This will generate your fuel planning under the FSB navlog clicking the navlog print icon on the upper right. The FSB printout is the one I use during flight. You do not need to start FS9 yet while AS6 and FSB are running. It is a bit of work but then you are your own first officer and flight dispatcher as well.

Thanks. THis did it. Appreciate the feed back.

A related question:If I have already opened AS and created a route (to get the winds aloft), then opened and generated a full flightplan in FSB, then import THAT flightplan into AS to get the full winds aloft for the exact flightplan (now it has the waypoints), will that change the winds aloft for the FSB flightplan since those waypoints were not in AS when the winds aloft were initially calculated?Damon

Don't think winds aloft will refresh without a build. At that time it looks at a snapshot of current weather in ASV6's folder.I create the route in FSB first (or load a saved one) and export it to FS9 after setting an initial cruise level. This insures that all waypoints are transfered. I then import that into AS and process and look at the full AS Navlog Output to get winds aloft and then pick the most efficient altitude for the flight average direction. I then go back to FSB, change the cruise altitude and finish the aircraft timer parameters and build again exporting to FS9 and in my case PMDG. Now the cruise and winds aloft for that altitude are correct in FSB for fuel planning at your selected altitude and you can print your complete FSB navlog showing correct winds for your selected cruise. If you are flying a complex aircraft you may need the temperatures aloft (from the AS6 navlog) as well for entry into the FMC.

Dear Ron:I can't figure this out whatsoever. Do I need to also select a path for line 25 in the export directories in FSB (line 25 is ACTIVE SKY). I have the export directory in line 26 (AS2004) of the export directories as follows:ACTIVE SKY 2004:F:FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9MODULESASV6Here is my FSB congig file:[FSBUILD]AUTOREFRESH_DELAY=1MAGYEAR=2006AIRCRAFT=B737-700 w/ CFM56-7B24SBPC_SERVER=www.vatsim.netROUTELINE=1NATRAKURL=www.natroutes.glideslope.de/html/nats.php3WEATHERPROG=ACTIVESKY[MS-FLIGHTSIMULATOR]FS_HOME=F:FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9ACTIVESKY=F:FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9MODULESAS2004=F:FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9MODULESASV6[FLY!][PS1][X-PLANE][sTARTUP]CLEARMAP_BEFORE_BUILDDISPRTEWPTSONMAPWINDS_ALOFTRVSM_FLAUTOREFRESH_ONI have apply winds aloft data checked off in the options. No matter what I do, the only choice I seem to get in the OPTIONS drop down menu called "Weather" is called AVTIVESKY. Ernie said that my config file should read like this:WEATHERPROG=ACTIVESKY2004-ASVbut this seems to eliminate any weather choices in the OPTIONS drop down menu called "Weather". I really want this to work. Can you tell me how your FSBconfig file differs? Any ideas? Thanks as always.Chris Catalano

I answered this in the FS9 forum but at Jim's request I'll summarize it here:First, the path setup for AS5 which is the same for ASV is now fixed in the menu selection. You need to update FSB to the free upgrade FSB 2.22 beta. The link is posted at www.fsbuild.com and go to the forums or direct to here:http://www.fsbuild.com/dl/fsb222Update.zipI'm not pasting my complete file but the relavent sections of the fsbuild2.cfg look like this:{FSBUILD}AUTOREFRESH_DELAY=1MAGYEAR=2002AIRCRAFT=B737-700 w/ CFM56-7B24ROUTELINE=1NATRAKURL=www.natroutes.glideslope.de/html/nats.php3WEATHERPROG=ACTIVESKY2004-ASV{MS-FLIGHTSIMULATOR}FS_HOME=H:PROGRAM FILESMICROSOFT GAMESFLIGHT SIMULATOR 9AS2004-ASV=H:PROGRAM FILESMICROSOFT GAMESFLIGHT SIMULATOR 9MODULESASV6(Can't use square brackets in forum messages.)
