April 30, 200620 yr Hi, This is just a quick question but something i can't figure out. I'm currently flying on a heading of 145 degrees. From my Nav log the avr wind direction is 327 degrees. As the wind is travelling pretty much in the opposite direction to what i am flying this be a headwind. However from my PMDG EFIS display and FMC it reports it as a tailwind. How is this so?Thanks 🛫
April 30, 200620 yr Wind direction is expressed as the direction from which it is blowing with reference to true north. In the case you cite, you are flying with a tailwind.Jim Karnhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_pf.jpg
April 30, 200620 yr Wind heading is report as the direction the wind is coming FROM. Since the wind is coming FROM 327, it is a tailwind.
