May 19, 200620 yr I seem to have a wind problem - in FS9 with AS6 - great product BTW!! Example. I load AS and download the current - I do not use live updates. Start FS9, locate to London Gatwick UK in this case. AS6 loads wx into FS9 and gives rain and a wind at 235/13kts.So I plan my flight for a runway 26L departure. I check the ATIS and it is showing the right weather 235/13kts BUT the M$ ATC gives me 08R runway as the active?I have tried the refresh AI too and still 08R is given as the active. A similar thing has also happened to me the last time I flew out of London Heathrow, weather was clearly going to make the 27L or 27R the active, but ATC gave me 09L It looks like somehow that AS is loading everything correctly into FS9 but FS9 ATC seesm to know nothing of the wind direction? Any ideas TIA Phil Webb
May 19, 200620 yr Hi Phil,Also got your e-mail, but will answer here only. Thanks for the kind words!!Are you using an AFCAD file that has certain runways closed?Try this: load as you have been doing and change the time in FS04 and see what happens. I know it is the same as the Refresh AI process, but let's see.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
May 19, 200620 yr Author JimThanks for the prompt reply = appreciated. It's a curious thing this problem. I tried restarting the whole process a couple of times earlier - sometimes that just seems to fix things! Though I had the problem both times. I stopped and wrote to you for some help. Then I had another go and it worked just fine!! Doh!! This time I got 26 as the active. Not sure what is different with this try. One thing I did do was I stayed with the default cessna, and quickly after start up, refreshed the ai and loaded the weather - you know how it is, you just don't pay close enough attention in the earlier failed attempts as to exactly what you did!? The other thing I did was to change the rate of change in FSUIPC of wind changes - it occurred to me that too slow a setting might be causing a problem? I was trying to use the sim with the PMDG 737 earlier though I am struggling to recall if I selected it prior to trying to set up the weather.Tomorrow at some point - all other pulls on my time permitting - I will try to set it up again from the same weather data which I saved.Another difference in how I was setting it up before has just occurred to me too - I was trying to load a route when it was 'failing' earlier on - could that be an issue? When it worked I just let it 'do it's own thing' from the downloaded data. Thinking about it I was loading AS6, loading a route then loading FS9. Maybe it's best to Load AS6, imort data, load FS9, let it settle then put a route in? I will try that and see what happens. Maybe this more 'gradual' approach to setting things up is far better?AS6 is no doubt a great addition to FS9 - for me it made FS9 into everything I was looking for and not getting from the software I was using before I discovered AS6! CheersPhil
May 19, 200620 yr Hi Phil,Start up should be:1. Start ASv62. Load your weather file.3. Process your route.4. Start FS04 and wait for ASv6 to process everything including AI Refresh.Just let us know how things are going when you get a chance.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
May 21, 200620 yr Gee what is this M$? Is that a new currency from a country with a name that begins with M?

May 22, 200620 yr Author One more thing - why do I sometimes get sharp verticle edges to clouds? They tent to appear truncated by an invisble frame?Phil
May 22, 200620 yr Hi Phil,3D clouds set at 100%?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
May 22, 200620 yr Author Right I will give that a try - I had assumed that would cause a major frame rate hit?Phil
May 22, 200620 yr Hi Phil,They could, but the 2d imposter clouds look as you described them.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
