August 18, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi everyone,We have planned maintenance on our servers scheduled for Sunday 09/03/2006 between 03:00Z and 08:00Z (5 hours total). During this time one or both of the weather servers, as well as our web servers, may be unavailable until after the maintenance window. In addition our e-mail system will be temporarily unavailable. This maintenance should result in a significant network performance boost, affecting everything from weather downloads, ecommerce system delivery speed, website access and more.We appreciate your understanding and patience during this planned down-time period.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies

What O/S are your servers using, and what's the drive/storage/web technology involve? Thanks, Ron CYEG
August 21, 200619 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Ron!They're normal mid-range internet server systems that are in the process of being replaced with newer models, as well as some additions coming in other locations (Europe and Asia planned). I couldn't tell you much more about the specs (not my specialty these days) but the new models are supposed to be much better :)Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 21, 200619 yr Wouldn't it make more sense to upgrade 1 WX Server at a time? I mean, isn't this why you added the second server, for redundancy? Otherwise, we've not learnt anything from when the server went down for days last year, or whenever it was.I don't know your setup, but having 1 online, all the time, would make more sense to me, leaving the duty to us, to change to the other server, if we want the service.Something to think about.
August 23, 200619 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Paul,Yes of course however there are some other upgrades going on which unfortunately will result in a bit of all servers being down temporarily. We hope the actual time of both weather servers being down will be very short and at least one server will be available for the majority. We however did want to give everyone plenty of warning time so it comes as less of a surprise.FWIW ASv6 will automatically switch servers appropriately as long as "Force server" options are not checked.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
September 3, 200619 yr Author Commercial Member As of 05:00Z both servers are currently offline for maintenance which is well underway. We expect at least one of them to be back on very shortly, with the other by 08:00Z. Further status as this maintenance period progresses will be listed here. Thanks everyone for your patience..Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
September 3, 200619 yr Author Commercial Member Hi all,As of 09:00Z we are unfortunately experiencing a little technical delay and the servers have yet to return to full service. This should be corrected very soon. I'll continue to give periodic updates until the system is back to 100%. Thanks once again for your patience...Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
September 3, 200619 yr Author Commercial Member Hi,After a bit of a delay we finally have everything up and stable at 100% again as of 10:30Z.Thanks everyone!Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
September 3, 200619 yr I'm all for a downtime for improvements and such... but Um... ON A SUNDAY????Bad timing guys... Weekends is when us working stiffs like to relax and fly a bit. After the labour day holiday would have been a far better time table I think. Like tuesday? when most of us are at work and its quieter than usual on the servers...??Lets think about this for a moment:Sunday: downtime and upgrades.Monday: holliday & support team Off Work. Bugs suddenly arrise and no one is around to attend to them.Tuesday: many ranting posts about the bug and suport team overloaded with complaints & trying to fix the problem.I have seen this type of thing happen before with other game downtimes.Anyways :) I hope it all works out for you.. I guess Ill go out and play in the rain today untill the server is back up :(
September 3, 200619 yr Nice work guys! Thanks for your efforts and support throughout the years!! Regards, Gerhard "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things" (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)
