AI turbulance on approach

Featured Replies

Good day! First time I've ran into anything like this since I upgraded to ASV6. During a final into KPDX, there was a B1900D sitting on the taxiway next to my runway waiting for me to land. As I got close and passed by the B1900D, I got a lot of wake turb from that a/c that almost made me lose control. I don't have ehanced wake turb on, just the normal wake turb. Does ASV take into account that the a/c generating the wake turb is on the ground or just that it's in the vicinity of my a/c? Also, I don't think a turboprop will generate that much wake turb on a A300-600. :-) Thanx!-Rick

Hi,No, the wake turbulence simulation doesn't activate for aircraft on the ground or less than 50 knots airspeed. It is possible however that the AI aircraft data received from FSUIPC may have been delayed and/or misformatted and/or another aircraft had made an approach to the same runway just prior to your arrival. As for FSUIPC AI traffic data, make sure you are using normal default FSUIPC AI traffic options to ensure the ASv6 wake simulation is getting the data it expects.Best,

Ya, I have just the defaults set in FSUIPC, except for extend battery life and add occasional cirrus. Oh well, might just have been a burp. If it happens again, I'll let ya know. Thanx!-Rick

Rick, just for your information, an aircraft sitting on the ground does not produce wake .. wake turbulence is a byproduct of lift, so no lift, no wake ..
