I've learned a lot about METAR data since I installed AS6, but perhaps a little knowledge is a dangerous thing! Maybe I'm not as comfortable with this as I thought.I've been trying to make some new Wx templates. For instance, this string for broken clouds:00000KT 9SM BK075 BK120 24/16 A2988In the Wx Configurator I give it a name and description, then save it. I also save it as a Wx data file. My idea is then I can load the file from the main AS6 panel (Load Wx), then load my flight plan, refresh (as I start paused), and off I go.Only , I don't get any clouds at the airport I designated when saving the file in Wx configurator (I don't check the 'All locations' box as I don't want that. Am I doing something basically stupid here?? Where are my clouds?Thanks!Martin

No, I clcik on Save and Update. The weather description on the right side shows exactly what I would expect, with the two layers of cloud; back in FS I sit and wait for clouds - but I just get clear blue skies. (Just the opposite of real life, isn't it?!),M.

I am still having problems saving the METAR I configure in Wx Configurator as a Wx data file I can load via the main window's 'Load Wx' button.In Wx Configurator I enter the above string, give it a name and description and click the small 'save' button. I am told the template has been saved. The decoded weather information is correct for the given string. I then choose to apply this to all locations in section 2 of WxConfig. Lastly I save the Wx and am told the file has been saved.I've tried clicking 'Apply Now' and also 'Update & Close' from the configurator window; also I tried restarting AS6 and loading the weather from my saved Wx data file. Whatever I do, the decoded weather shown in the main AS6 window bears no relation to the one in the Wx Configurator window - no idea where the weather shown is loading from. I'd really love to know what I am doing wrong here! Thanks.M.

No matter which template I load (either from Wx Configurator or 'Load Wx), even ones supplied with AS6 (Hurricane, Clear Skies etc.), the weather shown in the 'decoded' section of the main screen is the same. It's only when I download a Wx file that I downloaded from the internet (for use offline) that the weather shown changes as it should. Maybe all my templates are corrupt. Any possibility of anyone sending sending me a collection of templates that they know work so that I can test them?Thanks.

Hi Jim,I've been working on this for a couple of hours now. I deleted the templates (backed up first) and made new ones for all stations, identical to the default ones I had. When I load these up through Wx Configurator (I select one, choose all stations, 'Apply Now', wait for the 'Applying weather' notice to finish, then 'Cancel' and go back on the main screen), the correct weather data now shows in the decoded weather pane.I then import a flight plan and when that's loaded, click 'refresh' in the main window: the 'decoded weather' pane in the main screen still shows correctly and OFFLINE update completed' message then come up too. (If I click on 'Update & Close' in the Wx Configurator screen however, the notice 'refreshing' back on the main screen goes on and on, until I eventually have to close down AS6; not sure how long it would take to complete - I've given up after 5 minutes).I then run my flight, usually by opening a flight plan (.pln). Once the flight opens, AS starts up again 'synthesizing local weather'; for some reason, the weather shown in the main 'decoded weather' pane then changes completely, nothing to do with the weather I chose in Wx Config. I do seem to get the correct weather in FS though, which is what counts.What doesn't work is saving the template as a Wx file and then trying to load that file directly through 'Load Wx' in the main screen. That would be much neater. Is there any reason I can't get that to happen?Finally (for now!!), in a saved flight (.flt file) is it correct for the weather entry to be shown as WeatherType=2 ?M.

I can carry this on by e-mail if you prefer Jim! I spoke too soon in the above. The problem seems to be that whatever weather I selected in AS6 before I start FS, AS6 reloads different weather once FS starts to load a flight - the message in the main AS6 window 'clearing all wx' starts this off - and the weather I'd chosen in Wx Configurator (and which showed up OK in the decoded weather pane until now) is replaced with something completely different:Wind: 300 True, 4 KtsVis: 9999 Meters, 10 SMClouds: 2500 ScatteredPrecip: NoneTemp: 10C Dew: 9CPressure: 1017 mb, 30.03 inchesSo I get this new wetaher in FS, not what I loaded in Wx ConfigIs this a setting in my ini file I need to change? No worries Jim. As far as I can see, using my downloaded wx files for offline use (I have one for each day of the year) works just fine - it's just the .ast files that have problems. It would be good to be able to specify a particular weather condition sometimes however through wx configurator, so will look forward to your getting back on this when you can.All the best,M.

See if you can do this:Start AS and go to Wx Configurator.Choose the Blizzard theme.Apply to all stations.Click on Apply Now.Click on Save Wx and enter a unique name.Click on Update and Close.Exit ASRestart AS and wait for the initial weather to process.Click on Load Wx and choose your uniquely named file.AS should load with all stations reporting blizzard conditions. Hi again.The following steps go OK, of course:"Start AS and go to Wx Configurator.Choose the Blizzard theme.Apply to all stations.Click on Apply Now.Click on Save Wx and enter a unique name.Click on Update and Close....."But, as I said somewhere above, once I click on 'Update and Close' I get the main AS6 window back again with the message 'Refreshing....'. And it sits there for ever (well, it's been like that, 'refreshing' for 20 minutes now). Can't see any PC activity & no CPU activity for AS6 in Task manager during that time. No 'not responding' indication either, as I might have expected ..If, having waited all that time, I click the 'Refresh' button on the main screen, things start to happen and I quickly get the 'Offline Update completed' notice. I close AS & restart it, then load up my Blizzard.dat. The weather in the 'decoded weather' pane is certainly not showing blizzard conditions though ('moderate rain' & 'broken clou' for instance); and when I load my flight plan into AS and start it up in FS9, I don't get a blizzard either - nor even 'moderate rain'! The skies change several times and finally settle after a couple of minutes on completely overcast, but no rain or snow...Reinstall?????Martin

Re. "Reinstall?????" ....If the answer is 'yes', kindly remind me.:I have backed up 3 zip files for an AS6 installation, ASv6-Full; ASv6-SU5; ASv65_UpdateI install all 3, in that order?
