June 1, 200719 yr I'm experiencing a strange glitch - XGraphics landing lights work fine for default FS aircraft, but on RealAir's SF260 the light stays dark. Once I replace the spotlight.bmp texture with the default one from FSX, lights work again.Other annoying thing is that textures used for strobe effects (and a "halo" around navigation lights and beacons) seem to have this "box" around the edge (it's visible on the attached screenshot). This applies to all aircraft, not only the SF260 as the previous one.Apart from that, everything seems to run great and for daytime flights it looks just awesome :-)I'm using a Radeon X1900 GT with latest Catalysts.Andrew
June 1, 200719 yr Commercial Member HI, Yes it might have issue with some 3rd party aircraft because they build aircraft in different way, you can also try to use others landing light or others strobe effects, anyways you can disable it from the advanced option to keep your prefered, for all next sessoin of fsx this is why we made choice :) ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
June 1, 200719 yr About the strobe FX textures - it's definitely not a problem of 3rd party aircraft. I've finally found out how to decompress the bitmap it uses, increased brightness and as you can see, there are patches of blue colour in between individual images used in the animation. These have to be edited out, otherwise it results in the ugly blue boxes as in my previous screenshot. I can fix this myself, but to post the files here (once I've done them all] I need your permission - and of course it would be nice to have this included in the next update.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173038.zipI've fixed the spotlight issue by overwriting XGraphics' spotlight.bmp with the default one (unchecking it in Options only works for manually applied themes, it still got overwritten when using Wx influenced theme). Anyway if someone here has XGraphics and flies a Marchetti (or Aerosoft's Beaver, happens to it as well), I'd like him to check if landing lights work for him or not (I'm curious if this is a problem with my settings, or with the way how these planes implement landing lights)I'd also have a suggestion for SP1 - add a "Run FSX" button to ASX as well. When using Wx influenced themes, you have to stop FSX, download weather, apply theme and then start FSX. This would streamline the process nicely.Andrew
June 1, 200719 yr Commercial Member HI Andrew,About the strobe FX textures , the files you edited is not the same like before in your screenshots, it's anothers type of strobe light in x graphics that's dont have a box stars type, there is multiple strobe light available in x graphics, each one will look different. The issue I was talking was about using landing night with others 3rd party aircraft might cause issue, so default will works more, so there is compromise. You are right via ASX when you click wx influenced button it keep install one texture in fsx for some reason even if unchecked from xg interface. For now this issue don't happend with x graphics interface with normal theme install and wx influenced from XG when they are unchecked in XG. You can still use wx influenced from XG, it's in the option page, click wx influenced from XG after the ASX weather data is downloaded. As well XGraphics window running when you have ASX load the wx-influenced textures then the unchecked textures do not get replaced.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
June 2, 200719 yr I've checked all four strobe textures nd the problem shown in my screenshot was present in three of them (XG default, 4 stars and 6 stars). I already have it fixed, with your permission I'd post the updated textures here or in AVSIM library.Andrew
June 3, 200719 yr Commercial Member Hi Andrew,I fix them now, I was wondering what's you are talking, but I saw the "glitch" in the shots. They will be in the update of XG SP1 with few others things thanks for the catch :) Please do not upload our files anywhere.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
November 15, 200718 yr Andrew,I just found your message. I too fly the RealAir products and have a problem with landing lights. May I ask, is your issue still fixed? If so just how did you fix the problem i.e move spotlight.bmp from FSX location to where. I use both ASX and XG. I'm not sure just where these files are located. Thank you! erv High end with 5090, VR, 2020 & 2024.
November 15, 200718 yr It's all been fixed in Service Pack 1 for ASX and XG, so first I'd install them. All you need to after that is- install a XG theme with one of the "high intensity" spotlight textures - apply the theme- disable updating of spotlight texture in Advanced options of XG, so it doesn't get overwritten when installing a Wx influenced theme.
November 15, 200718 yr Thanks Andrew, I now have lights. Think my problem was I did not do or know about the "Advance" step. erv High end with 5090, VR, 2020 & 2024.
