June 24, 200718 yr I need to enter in FMC true direction of wind and speed at certain cruise altitude. Are winds aloft on the Briefing page of ASX given in true directions? If not pls explain how to calculate their true direction based on the table there.Thanks,Dirk.
June 24, 200718 yr Winds aloft are usually true. Calculate magnetic by adding or subtracting the variation from the true figure according to "Variation West-Magnetic Best. Variation East-Magnetic Least".ASX makes it easy for you, as East variation is expressed as negative figure, whilst West is positive.regards,Jeff Jeff Hunter
June 25, 200718 yr Just to add to this: on the Briefing page we do show the magnitic variation of the active station.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Are the winds on the briefing page already shown in TRUE directions? Or will still need to add Magnetic (flying KSEA to CYVR) to the base value shown there? Thanks.
June 25, 200718 yr Hi,Winds are shown TRUE. If you need Magnetic then you need to use the values.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
June 25, 200718 yr Author Guys, can anyone give an example when I might need Magnetic directions of winds in MSFS?Thanks.
