ASX from a Client

Featured Replies

Dear AllI have been using ASX successfully for many months on my PC with FSX, Acceleration and FSUIPC 4.25 registered version on Vista 64 bit.I would now like to run ASX on a client PC.I have got simconnect working correctly with messages appearing within FSX such as "ASX connected"I have FSX set to use custom weatherHowever the weather is not updated within FSX (nor are the weather stations from within FSX)I get the "ASX is begining initial weather depiction" followed immediately by "ASX has completed initial weather depiction"The Client PC sticks on "Starting depiction output to FSX" without progressingI am using the 10.0.61242.0 Simconnect clientI guess it would help if ASX supported the latest SP2 or Acceleration simconnect client as there seems to be a lot of threads about problems with simconnect and ASX ?Anyway can anyone help me ?Many thanks in advanceLufty

Hi JimYes the AI Traffic program works perfectly. The firewalls are disabled on both the client and server to aid diagnostics and UAC is also disabled on the server (Windows Vista)I have tried different ports in case of a conflict and also netstat is showing the connection is working correctly.I wonder whether it is something specific to Acceleration as I understand the SDK is slightly different for Acceleration compared with SP2 although I am obviously using the SP1a client of Simconnect. Many thanks for the prompt replyLufty

Hi EveryoneI have removed Acceleration and tried it with FSX SP2 instead. I have also removed FSX SP2 and installed FSX SP1 with the same results.I have also tried another client PC which has not made any difference. It has me beaten :-( Lufty

Hi JimI have gone through the networking steps about 10 times on different PCs without any luck.Simconnect seems to be sending and receiving data as ASX detects where the aircraft is correctly and also you get the ASX messages in FSX.The only thing I have not tried is to reinstall FSX from scratch.I am relucant to reinstall from scratch due to all the configuration changes etc. but I guess in lieu of other suggestions I will have to give that a go.RegardsLufty

Hi AllI have now reinstalled FSX without any luck.I have also disabled the Remote Access Connection Manager service which was identified as a problem with another user.I have also changed the Port used by Simconnect without any success either.I have also tried it with the 1160 (SP3 release version) with exactly the same problem. With all combinations the AI Traffic test program works fine using Simconnect.RegardsLufty

Hi,After reviewing this, it appears that your simconnect installation is fine. If you're getting messages from ASX in FSX and connecting ok there is nothing wrong here.Based on the symptoms here, it looks like the FSX station database is not being correctly loaded for some reason. There may be a path configuration or share problem. The XEngine.log file should show the problem. Please post it here after starting things up and getting the "depiction complete" message. Thanks!

For some reason ASX did not have access to the Main Flight Simulator X directory. I deleted the registry entry and recreated it and it worked immediately so maybe there was a double space or strange charector in the path as it looked ok to me before I deleted it.The reason it was not obvious is because the error in the logfile is very near the start of the process rather than after the processing of the downloaded weather is complete and consequently it scrolls of the screen very quickly.Maybe as an enhancement it could change the text to red for a major problem or perhaps there could be a verbose and errors only view of the logfile within the ASX window ?Either way I am up and working so thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction.Lufty
