Jim / Damien,ASX allows for multiple layers of cloud to create a more realistic simulation. However, because of the cloud thickness rules applied by FSX it seems to me that under certain conditions these multiple layers will merge into one.Take the current METAR from EGUW...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/187928.jpgYou'll notice there are four cloud layers at 100ft, 500ft, 1100ft and 4000ft. However, the actual settings in FSX weather are Cumulus 5/8, base=500, top=10500. Cirrus 5/8 base 25360, tops=27000.My cloud layers are limited to 3 and Cirrus cloud generation is set to 25%.Is it nigh impossible for those cloud layers to be set by ASX because FSX insists on default thicknesses for cloud types? I'm assuming you send the data for each cloud layer to FSX and after that it's pot luck as to how FSX decides to implement it.Cheers,

Hi Ray,Do you have fog layer generation turned on? That's probably what is creating the lower layers (which are not subject to the max cloud layer setting). And yes, ASX will 'merge' certain layers for better depiction using fog layer generation. I would suggest you turn this off (if its on). Fog layer generation was mainly to help with the visibility graduation feature which has since been dropped.Does this help?

Hi Damian,I did have Fog Layer selected and I've now switched it off. I've completed the flight so I'll check things with that METAR on my next one.Thanks.PS. ASX doesn't have an option to just start and not download the current wx unlike AS6.5. Is this an option you could consider for the occasional time I want to use historical wx?
