July 2, 200817 yr JimI have ASX running on a networked computer... had to make sure SimConnect SP1 was installed, not the latest one on the Acceleration disk to make the message go away that SimConnect wasn't properly set up on computer and FSX would not be updated...Anyway, ASX on the networked computer works now, or at least doesn't say it can't connect to FSX, however, the weather on FSX running on the "server" doesn't seem to be changing or consistent with the ASX weather. Also on the Report screen when you click on "Lock to closest" doesn't seem to be working or selecting the closest weather station to where you are in FSX.Also in FSX, there are no messages scrolling saying that Active Sky was doing its thing. Is there something I am forgetting or overlooking? Thanks in advanceMArk
July 2, 200817 yr Hi Mark,Make sure both firewalls are allowing access. What happens if you run the AI Traffic Utility from the client? Please let us know.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
July 3, 200817 yr Commercial Member Hi,The xengine.log file would most likely indicate the problem here. Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
July 4, 200817 yr Hi Mark,How did you re-install simconnect sp1? I have acceleration with sp2. How can you un-install sp1 without uninstalling sp2? Is the only way to network ASX is without SP2? Thanks in advance. I do have ASX running on the server, but want to move to my client. Bob... Bob Prince
July 4, 200817 yr >Hi,>>The xengine.log file would most likely indicate the problem>here.Where can you find the xengine.log file? Does it get saved somewhere or do you have to access it through the ASX app?TIAMark

July 4, 200817 yr Sorry to repeat myself... but just to back up a bit, will ASX work Networked with SP2/Acceleration?
July 4, 200817 yr Okay everyone, got it working !!!Here is what I did... followed the Documentation again very closely (found at /Program Files/HiFi/XEngine/ASX/Documentation/simconnect_troubleshooting.html)Uninstalled, reinstalled, etc... then I renamed my SimConnect.xml file found C:Documents and SettingsWHATEVERYOURUSERNAMEISApplication DataMicrosoftFSXI had first made this from scratch copying over what was in the ASX Networking documentation, then I took some copies from the SDK and used them instead.... What I didn't do was sooo stupidIn the sample files, all the samples default node as True... this of course Disables SimConnect, it has to be "False" as seen here: FalseIPv4global64 192.168.1.123 500Feel stupid, but at the same time, feel good I figured it out... and works okay when Acceleration/SP2 is installed on FSX!Sorry for your time fella's, thanks just the same.Sincerely,
July 5, 200817 yr ASX is apparently not compatible with simconnect sp2 on a client. I can get ASX past the "Simconnect wont load screen" by installing simconnect client sp1. However, it will not talk to FSX because the simconnect.dll installed by SP2 (acceleration) on the sever is looking for sp2 simconnect client. (I think). Life was sure simpler with FSUIPC. :) So, in summary, it is impossible to run ASX on a client with SP2 installed on a server. (Hoping one of the 4029 pilots who DO have ASX running on a client with Acceleration will tell us how they did it. LOL) Bob.. Bob Prince
July 5, 200817 yr Very Good!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
July 5, 200817 yr Success. Part of it doesn't make sense. I had left out the local part of simconnect.xml file. That makes sense. I reinstalled simconnect sp2 on the server and client. Didn't work. Then I just installed simconnect sp1 on the client (simconnect sp2 is still installed) and it connects and updates weather. I hope this helps you Mark.Bob... Bob Prince
