Hi all. Just purchased ASX yesterday based on reading all the reviews and the feedback from users here. I'm a bit dissapointed at the moment as when using it my frames goes down to single digits and the stutters becomes more prevalent. I tried FSX without ASX and I get smooth frames again. I have the latest SDk installed if that's any help. It doesn't matter where I fly I get the same results. I even tone the cloud layer down from 3 to 1 and still made no difference.I've followed the intructions before installation which went without a hitch. Hope you can help.My specs are E8600@4Ghz-8800GTX-4Gigs Ram running on Vista 64. I'm also using FEX for the clouds.I run all this at 1920X1200 with 4xAA. Like I said before FSX runs very well for me but unfortunately I can't use ASX with it. Would it help if I use Xgraphics instead if it would then I should've bought the whole package. I did have ASv6 for FS9 and that performs flawlessly and a must have for that sim. Thanks

Hi Jim. Cloud draw distance is 70/112km.Cloud coverage at max. At last testing I've cut the cloud res down to 256x256 and still no good. It's usually at 1024x1024. I don't use SD sets as they don't look right to me but that's just personal opinion. I might add that I'm using FSX+Acceleration pack with Vista SP1. The driver is the latest Beta 177.92. Thanks for the quick reply.

Do you get these stutters/slowdowns constantly, or is it just when weather is being injected? You shouldn't be getting single digits with your setup--it is close to what I run and you ought to maintain higher frames, even with 6 layers of clouds.I would suggest going to the 169.xx WHQL vid driver for starters--in my testing they worked better than the 177's with our 8800GTX card in FSX. and use a good driver cleaning program such as the one from Guru3D.com.Ok, I will bow out now and let Jim do his thing...I felt I had to comment given the op's setup is almost exactly what mine is. Except I do run ASX networked.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

Thanks Rhett. Best way I can put it is there's a marked drop in frames when ASX is activated and running in the background along with the dreaded stutters. I'll try the 169's and see how it goes.

Good news. I am now using ASX as it should be. I'm not too sure what was the problem but after messing around with the settings within ASX and reinstalling the driver everything now seems to be working. I'm getting some stunning looking flights. Tested at several locations with different weather and getting good frame rates at all times. Now that I've seen what ASX has bought to the table I can honestly say this is a wonderfull add on to flight simulator as weather plays such a big part in aviation.Well done. One more question. I've noticed that during flights through layers that there is a hard line right across the horizon with a distinct separation between the haze layer and the top,it slowly fades away as you fly higher. Sort of takes away the great looking visuals a bit .Is there any adjusment that could blend this hard horizon within the two layers? Thanks
