September 20, 200817 yr I know, I know. I need to UPGRADE!Using AS wxRE 1.92.5 with FS2002I just recently noticed my winds aloft are jumping to the next current heading/speed and are not transitioning smoothly,(It was normal a week ago) I don't think I've changed anything. Here's my config file://wxRE configuration file - be careful with edits here[General]WXREOfflinePath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREExportPath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREOperationMode = OnlineDefaultOfflineFile = defcycle02Z.wxdDisableCloudTransitions = TrueDisableMessages = FalseLowBandwidthWinds = FalseExportMetars = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueMETARUpdateInterval = 10FDUpdateInterval = 15UpdateMETAROnNewStation = TrueUseShortTermTAF = FalseWindsAloftSimulation = FalseFS2004Writes = FalseIdlePriority = FalseVATSIMMetars = TrueDefaultForceRange = 60ZuluConversion = -5RainVisReduction = FalseOvercastHorizonVis = FalseDisableForceWindUpdates = TrueTAFProcessing = FalseWakeTurb = TrueDisableUpdatesWhenForced = FalseStartPaused = TrueCloudTransitionInterval = 10MinimumCloudThickness = 200UseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEProxyPort = 80Any ideas...?
September 20, 200817 yr Hi,Try resetting FSUIPC back to its default settings and see if that makes a difference.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 20, 200817 yr Well, I reset FSUIPC to the default settings and my winds aloft are still jumping to the next one available. Here's my FSUIPC settings:[General]GenerateRain=NoGenerateCirrus=NoWindShearSharp=YesAutoTaxiWind=YesUpperWindGusts=YesStormsAutomatic=NoGraduatedVisibility=YesLowerVisAltitude=6000UpperVisAltitude=25000ExtendMetarMaxVis=YesPatchWeatherToADV=YesPlanLoadNoPosition=NoPatchSimApAlt=YesAutoClearWeather=YesApplyVisFix=NoWindTransitions=YesExtendTopWind=YesWindSmoothness=1CopyDewPtToDayNightVar=YesSmoothPressure=YesPressureSmoothness=5SmoothVisibility=YesVisibilitySmoothness=2MaxSurfaceWind=0WindVarFactor=7WindLimitLevel=200WindDiscardLevel=400WindSetVariance=NoSubterraneanWindFix=YesMagWindsToFST=NoWindAjustAltitude=NoWindAjustAltitudeBy=2000MinimumVisibility=0MaximumVisibilityFewClouds=6000MaximumVisibility=1000MaximumVisibilityOvercast=2000MaximumVisibilityRainy=1000UpperVisibility=6000OneCloudLayer=NoThinClouds=NoThinThunderClouds=NoStormProbability=0StormMinTemp=10StormParameters=1030530CloudThinness=1000ThunderCloudThinness=10000CloudTurbulence=YesCloudIcing=YesCloudForJetTrails=NoCloudForVSky=NoWindTurbulence=NoSuppressAllGusts=NoExternalOptionControl=YesAutoTuneADF=NoMagicBattery=YesAxisCalibration=NoTCASid=FlightTCASrange=40SendWeatherAlways=NoSendWeatherInterval=60RainStopper=75RainStarter=75KeepFS98CloudCover=NoRudderSpikeRemoval=NoElevatorSpikeRemoval=NoAileronSpikeRemoval=NoShowPMcontrols=NoAdjustWeatherATIS=NoCloudTurbulenceToWinds=NoFixRainProblem=YesTrapUserInterrupt=YesNavFreq50KHz=NoClockSync=YesSmoothIAS=NoMinVSkyAltitude=40000TrafficScanPerFrame=10SuppressCloudTurbulence=NoSuppressWindTurbulence=NoFixWindows=NoFixControlAccel=NoMainMenu=&ModulesSubMenu=&FSUIPC ...[JoystickCalibration]FlapsSetControl=0ReverserControl=66292AileronTrimControl=0RudderTrimControl=0
September 21, 200817 yr Hi,OK, now re-set FSUIPC with the Weather Settings Off button. Also, turn Off the VATSIM option unless you are flying with VATSIM.Is this with a default plane? Are you processing a flight plan? When in the flight do these shifts occur?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 21, 200817 yr Let me step back. I noticed this happening when I used the VATSIM weather the first time. I was not pleased so I disabled it. Also, I noticed the wind shift would happen when ASWXRE winds Aloft was in FORCED mode. And Ever since, using ASWXre my winds aloft would jump to the next corresponding winds aloft. Instead of transitioning smoothly to the next winds aloft entry.I disabled weather in VATSIM.ASWXRE would smoothly go from winds aloft setting to the other no matter which aircraft I was using.Yes, a flight plan was filed. It shifts just free flying around as well.Weather is off in FSUIPC. It appears the buttons I push in FSUIPC does not have any affect. "Normal Defaults" "Clear All Weather" and "Weather Settings Off." I have an unregistered FSUIPC Vs 3.71The winds aloft shift occurs at the next Flight Level altitude. If winds at FL180 were 180/04 in ASWXRE and in FS2002 160/10. FS would jump the settings to 180/04 instead of going 161 162 163 164 165 etc..till it got to 180. Before all this took place, I remember in FS2002 the Winds Aloft heading would smoothly change simultaneously along with the winds speed until it reached the ASWXRE winds aloft setting. I might just have to live with the winds shifting to the next winds aloft setting.
September 21, 200817 yr Hi,So the Clear Weather button doesn't clear the clouds in FS?Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 21, 200817 yr Well..Yes it does. So, when the Clear Weather Button in FSUIPC is depressed. It clears the weather.I never use FSUIPC buttons.
September 22, 200817 yr Hi,I am out of ideas here!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 22, 200817 yr Is there any possible way that the winds aloft are stuck in FORCED mode? It being in forced mode, does it transition the winds smoothly? or just jump to the next level altitude of winds?
September 22, 200817 yr Hi,Your forced range is only 60 miles so that is not it.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 23, 200817 yr Well, that sucks.I wish I could nip this in the butt. It sucks when the wind shifts abruptly in flight. Is FSUIPC the one that utilizes the smoothness of the wind direction or would it be ASwxRE? If it's FSUIPC, maybe I should uninstall it and reinstall to get it functioning accordingly.
September 23, 200817 yr Hi,It's been so long I can't even remember. Pretty sure that with FSUIPC 2.91 control was through FSUIPC. When the jump to 3.xx was made that is when Pete went Free/Registered and advanced features.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 28, 200817 yr Hi Grahm,Could you tell me where to find version 1.92.5, as I got 1.92.4, which I thought to be the final version ? Is there any way to send it to me ?Thanks,Sotiris. Sotiris Stavrakis
February 4, 200917 yr Well I have reinstalled Squakbox, and my FS2002. The winds aloft still jump to the next available winds aloft settings. I'm using an unregistered version of FSUIPC 3.7.1.0. What handles the smooth transition of winds aloft? Also, how do I set max visibility while on the ground to 10 miles? It seems its unlimited when it's clear. Using Active Sky wxRE 1.92.5
