Is this patch above and beyond the R4D 2K2 patch?

Featured Replies

Hi, I just happened to run across this site: http://www.dc3airways.com/entry.htmland saw a patch for the R4D Sperry, rd42k2ap.zip and I wonder if this patch is part of the combo of the MAAM CD V4.1 plus the Visual Upgrade patch plus the 2K2 upgrade? I tried contacting Bill but have not received any response yet. Is anyone in this group familiar with this patch? Thanks

Hi Blais,Sorry, I am actually in the middle of a very long e-mail response to you about the other question you asked. As far as this one is concerned, you should indeed apply the AP Upgrade to your 6th Edition CD. The new AP was incorporated into the 7th Edition. Thanks Bill. I'll do just that. If I ever get my hands off the lovely R4D I will go back to read more about starting the B-25 engines.Good work folksBlais

Blais,I am waiting for MY 2 CD set to arrive, but you can download some of the B-25 video's that are on the CD, I believe, and one of the short video shows the switch and start up activation sequence. Made a whole lot of sense to the switch functions and operation. I think I may have seen the video clip available on AVSIM, but I cannot remember exactly.

Hi, I do have the 2nd CD for the B-25 but, gee whiz, I am still fascinated with the R4D. I did install the B-25 and must say it looks amazing and rather intimidating. Reading the HTML manual on it before I make a fool of myself trying to start those engines. I did view the video but so much is covered in it that I feel I will now read the manual and then the video. Lastly try it out in the cockpit. Easier for me that way. Thanks for your note SirRegards

If you are truly desperate to take to the air, without reading my manual (I can't beleive I'm telling you this!) you can start the engines with the Ctrl + E shortcut. They will start up in the incorrect order, which should be right (#2) first, but you must blame MS for that. ;-) The B-25 training film says, "A good pilot always starts his right engine, first." So, here's a quiz that any real heavy twin pilot knows, and so will anyone who read the R4D manual: Why?Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

Why???I am clueless, is it so the captain can talk to the ground crew without the propeller spinning?Clueless. Please come back with an answer soon because its bugging the hell out of me!ADAM

Hi Everyone, I suspect that this is a procedure based on the pilot's inability to hear the #2 engine if the #1 engine has been started. He sort of sits right next to #1.Regards

Hi Bill and folks, I feel that if MAAM is good enough to give us a fine manual on the B-25, which includes starting instructions, the least we can do is READ the manual and try to follow the instructions. I am not a great fan of the CNTRL-E startup on any aircraft. So, thanks for the manual and the two-disc set with all the information on it.Regards

Just in case anyone is having trouble with the start procedure, even the intrepid beta team had problems starting on occasion... Like when they set the magnetos for one engine and then tried to start both!!!!! *:-* There is definately far more of a sense of achievement from getting everything spinning on your own than hitting shortcut keys though. The only time I ever use ctrl-e is when for some reason I can't start an aircraft (e.g. FS2000 helicopter models that don't recognise the FS2002 Bell panel controls. Grr.)Ian P.:-halo
