March 2, 200323 yr While waiting for my Briefing Time CD's, I downloaded the manual and read it. I then downloaded the BT Trial Version and love this airplane. I can't wait for the CD's to arrive. Also, thanks for introducing me to the camera from Anticyclone, it adds a whole new dimension to my simming.;) I tried a carrier takeoff from the USS Washington but was only successful once. After reading this forum I set the wind speed to 50 knots and now takeoff's are uneventful. See how this one ends.

To top it off : in Options/Settings/Display/Aircraft check 'reflections' , adds some real glass to the greenhouse(s) and you'll get nice chrome spinnerhubs on the side. :-kewlGood show!Nice piccie! Might keep 'm a bit smaller though.JanMAAM-SIM
March 17, 200323 yr I know this is a little off topic but does anyone know how to land (B25 or any other plane) on this carrier. Is there a command to activate the catch cable (sorry forgot what it is called). There also seem to be some other views and commands on the carrier to get the plane to and from storage. No description of any of this in the Carrier docs.thanks,Mark. Mark CYYZ
March 18, 200323 yr Hi Mark,The B25 isn't carrier capable - it has no hook to catch a cable anyway. It can, however, be landed straight from the situation provided, as the wind makes for a rather short landing run! :-hahAs for other aircraft, any carrier in the FS world can be made to have arrestor cables and catapaults using the "arrcab" program available here at Avsim and almost everywhere else as well, it seems! Some aircraft, to avoid this, are fitted with "super spoilers" that, when deployed, bring the aircraft to a screaming halt. Of course this means that you can't use your spoilers in the air, so ArrCab is a far better solution. If you do a search for "arrcab" in the libraries, you should find loads of information.Ian P.:-halo
March 19, 200323 yr Mark and Ian,Indeed, I have landed BT on carrier decks with and without headwind, and the roll out is pretty short with full flaps and landing speed (indicated) is under 90mph. Remember, she has VERY good brakes! With a 50knot headwind, your actual landing speed is around 45mph! Illigitimi non-carbrundum
