The B-25 Photo Real Views.......

Featured Replies

As my "Hat" doesn't function I use the keyboard to look around. However after installing the B-25 I followed the tip to download "Active Camera Pro" and am delighted with it.Despite having that facility as well as the keys I cannot access views such as the Bombadier's or the Waist Gunner's compartments. Are there specific key commands that I've perhaps missed? Active Camera doesn't get me into those areas.

Hi Cliff,The user's manual section on the 2-D Views tells you how to navigate to the waist gun, upper turret, and the other views. These are not part of the 3-D cockpit that you move around with Active Camera. The 2-D views can only be selected while you are in 2-D panel mode. Take a look at that section of the manual and it should all be clear to you.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

Cliff,As a side note to Bill's explanation, it is fun to navigate with Active Camera down through the engineer's compartment and up through the tunnel to the bombardiers compartment with your keyboard entries. Unfortunately you cannot navigate up over the bomb bay and back into the waist gunner or even further back into the tail gunners compartments. I was kind of disappointed that these areas were not 'explorable' as well. The 'eye candy' would have been spectacular, but most of the action is up front anyway. As Bill explained, these views are only available in 2D.There is more to see in the bombardiers compartment as you look around in Active Camera that you cannot see otherwise.

My thanks to Bill and Fragmentum. No problem now.........just fun. What a bird this is. Even better than the DC-3. The sound, the flying characteristics, the thought and obvious work devoted to the panel. Great.I've just spent an interesting hour or so exploring the new Scotland scenery and it's been a happy, fulfilling time.

Don,>was kind of disappointed that these areas were not >'explorable' as well. The 'eye candy' would have been >spectacular, but most of the action is up front anyway. Not only that, it would've ment to model the ENTIRE inside of BT plus the ENTIRE external model would have had to be rendered as part of the internal model including the main gear ( you would've surely be taking your post at the waistgunners position to watch the gear being extended, wouldn't you ! :9 ) That would've come down to, say, another 20.000 or more poly's. The 'eyecandy' would've been spectacular indeed but the 'framecandy' would've made you reach for the sickbag.. :-erks It's still rowing with the oars we've been giving, maybe someday we'll get that outboard motor. ;-)best,Jan

Jan,I'm already overclocking a bit and lookin' for a better CPU cooler! BT 'plays' very well in my system already, though!(AMD 1800+ CPU w/512MB RAM and a sweet GeForce4 Ti 4600-8X w/tweaked everything!)You can watch the gear extand/retract from the waistgunners position in the real BT???? Then, by golly, I demand more polygons!!!! I'll just plug the machine into a nearby 220v outlet and pack the sucker in dry ice!!For now, though, I would settle for the R4D in Gmax and all the new bells and whistles. I still fly the 2D model all the time I'm not up front in the B-25!Don
