B-25 Firefighter update ( pictures)

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,Here's an update on the work in progress regarding our B-25 Firefighter. We're setting up a reservoir filled with strained off oil alongside runway 13 at KRDG, light it up so it can be used as a practise fire for all you fearless flying fire fighters to have a go at.Here is firefighting ship 15 ready to fill its tanks. That's Bill Womack's beautiful KRDG/MAAM scenery available soon as a Christmas present from MAAM-SIM for all of you to enjoy.( yep,opening/closing hangar doors too!) http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btffr6.jpgFearless Flying Fire Fighters!http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btffr4.jpgPractise fire is already warming up. That's MAAM's Convair 580 taxiing out to runway 18 there. ( just kidding, that's one of Tom Gibson's great AI additions.Get it at http://www.calclassic.com/ We'll get a crack at the MAAM's 580 in the future hopefully )http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btffr5.jpgLining up. ( yes, that's an adapted 2D panel for good visibillity fitted inside the firefighter as well ) http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btffr2a.jpgClosing in on its prey..http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btff6.jpgMmmmm....http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btffr1.jpgMissed!http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btffr3.jpgAnother go, with a load of water this time.http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btff1.jpgRight on!http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btff7.jpgA view from the top turret. Fire under control!http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/ff/btff9.jpgWell... actually it's not. We're still trying to find a way to 'control the fire' i.e. shut it down via a trigger. If any of you scenery guru's read this, we're open for any good suggestion!Fire and water/detergent dropping effects by our special FX man, Jan Rosenberg. Great job, Jan !Merry Christmas everybody!Best Regards,Jan V.

Looks like great fun, Jan! Prettige Kerstdagen en Gelukkig Nieuwjaar!Jaap Verduijn.

Dank je,Jaap,en 't zelfde !Jan

Hi there,I kinda lost track of it.Is this master piece ready and I missed the download link or is the livery/version not out yet?Tnx in advance...Cheers,Marcelo M

Hello Marcelo,The firefighter hasn't been released yet - the work on the R4D/DC3 has been taking up all of Jan's time, apart from anything else! ;-)I don't know when or whether it is still planned for release, but Jan or Bill will probably be along at some point in the near future to comment on that.Ian P.BTBT Gopher and Random Beer Crate Rotator:-halo

Hate to bring up a dead thread, but this was pointed to by another thread in the General Discussion board. One of the only ways I know of to control a scenery fx is with the radio. Ive seen fire sceneries that came out in 2002 that could be killed by tuning to a certain radio frequency...

Well, if someone knows how to implement radio freq control of a fire scenery in FS2004 (i.e. turn effects on/off with radio freq selections), I can code a COM2 radio freq command into the drop control system that checks the drop plus windage against the fire location and only sends a command to "snuff" the fire if the retardant is on-target. I've already got a pretty good working prototype of a DCS for both the B747 supertanker and the MAAM B-25J (including automatic opening/closing of the bomb-bay doors).But...scenery for me is nothing but major butt pain. I need a scenery expert to help me with that part of it if we're gonna make interactive fire drops work.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC
